So here we are Sunday Morning. Raining AGAIN here in North Georgia. We are eating breakfast in the living room watching TV. Naughty us! When suddenly a face appear in the window a couple of feet away from us. It is the first Black Bear we have seen this season. Talk about a morning wake up! This guy was probably about 1 to 1 1/2 years old. I made the mad dash for the camera. But he was gone. He did leave evidence that he was here though!pitter patter of little tiny feet           I will have camera at the ready and hopefully get a picture of the rest of him to share. In terms of safety here are the things to remember with black bears. NEVER get between a mother and her cubs. If you see cubs be very careful because mom is not far away. Also if a bear stands it s ground with you an Humpffs. It has cubs some where and will take you on.

For other situations stand as tall as you can and make noise at the bear. If you turn and run you better have Carl Lewis speed because they will chase you. But if you stand your ground and make noise they are shy and will turn and leave.

SPRING is now officially here for us!!!

WOW!  That's exciting and scary!  Worst we've seen on our porch are some raccoons!  LOL  Be careful and make sure to share that pic when you get it!

Have a great holiday weekend!

Kathleen

I will defiantly be back so see the picture of the baby black bear! He must have smelled your breakfast and come looking for some handouts.

He wanted that breakfast. I wonder if he will come back after you start BBQing this evening?

Have a great weekend.

That must have been quite a sight to see!  I hope you get a photo of the little guy, maybe momma too!  My husband opened the door into the garage the other night and there was a raccoon who had just ripped open the trash.  It took both of them by surprise!

Charlie,

We get bears as well. Someone always puts there garbage out a day early and that brings them in.

How scarry!  We only have wild hogs and wolves in our area.  I wouldn't want to cross paths with a bear.

I'm not sure that is who I would want to see on my back deck, they can break in anytime they like.

We found this blog by googling "bent Tree" black bear. We probably saw the same bear !!!  This was on Sat, ~ 5pm.  We were visiting Bent Tree looking at some properties.  Driving up a long uphill driveway in the area of Bent Tree boarding Big Canoe, we saw it standing right in front of us.  We stared at each other for a few seconds, then it slowly moved to the woods, still staring at us.  We were so surprised (we knew about turkey and deer, but not bear), and it took us a while to remember a camera.   We have a shot of him only after he was near the woods.  This is so cool and somewhat scary at the same time.  Perhaps this is a young cub just left mother and is trying to find his way around ?
