Following are some of the current needs for volunteers.

  1. ALVARADO HOSPITAL-- Volunteers are needed for the information desk, gift shop, surgical waiting room, and patient care. Training is provided. A background check and tuberculosis test are required.

  2. INTERFAITH SHELTER NETWORK -- Help needed for annual program to thank shelter volunteers. Assitance needed setting up at 4:30 p.m., registering guests, and helping during dinner and the silent auction. Even will take place at Mission Trails Regional Park, and will conclude by 8:00 p.m.

  3. JEWISH FAMILY SERVICE OF SAN DIEGO -- Volunteers needed to drive older adults to doctor appointments, grocery stores, and other appointments.

  4. SAN DIEGO COUNTY OFFICE OF EDUCATION -- Teach struggling readers in first through third grades by working with individual students during school hours. Offered throughout San Diego County, and a three-hour training course is required.

  5. BOOKSFIRST! SAN DIEGO CHAPTER -- Help increase literacy in Sna Diego by volunteering for events and projects.

  6. ABILITY DANCES -- Help student dancers with physical disabilities. Preferred volunteers should have a dance/cheer background or are interested in physical therapy, and can commit to the 10-week program.
