$8000 Tax Credit If you're a first time buyer, now is the time to buy.  The government is giving first time buyers a great tax incentive to buy - an $8,000 tax credit.  Up until a couple of weeks ago, you could use the tax credit for your downpayment, but that has gone away.  As soon as you settle on your purchase, you can apply to receive the credit ... you don't have to wait to get these funds.
