Oh what a tangled web we weave...
I am a sucker for every doo hickey that measures your blogs links, traffic, IQ, inseam, dress size, etc. Of course when I saw a tweet about the Web-o-Meter" make that "Web-O-Meter 2.0 ", I had to check out both my WordPress blog and my two ActiveRain Outside blogs....
That was even before I even realized it is a Columbus based company and before I had a clue of what they are measuring.
The Web-O-Meter 2.0 from Webbed Marketing is more than just regular link popularity, you've got to have friends, get followed by folks, tweet, share, get digged, tripped over etc. to make it big on the Web-O-Meter 2.0.
Put in your url without the http:// Just the name really. In my case ColumbusBestBlog.com
"Your site scores a 13.5 out of 100 (columbusbestblog.com)
A small hive, but a start. There are a handful of folks online that are Buzzing about this site. Interested in creating more Buzz? Contact Webbed Marketing and let us help you get people talking."
Booooooo!! That's good though compared to my newer blogs... my ActiveRain Outside Blogs. Discover Columbus Ohio and Worthington Old and News both got 3.0 out of 100... and what did Webbed Marketing's Web-O-Meter have to say about a score of 3 out of 100?
"As Simon and Garfunkel would say, that's the Sound of Silence. This site doesn't have much Buzz right now, but we can help. Contact Webbed Marketing for ideas on how to get the Internet talking about your site."
I checked other Columbus Blogs too... including but not limited to Columbus Underground:
"Your site scores a 25.0 out of 100 (columbusunderground.com)
"Buzzzzzzzzzzzzzzz. You've got some going right now. Interested in knowing who is talking, what they are saying and how to get more people Buzzing? Contact Webbed Marketing and we'll help you get answers... and more Buzz."
I found another Columbus site, a blog with a score of 34.5... It surprised me they got a higher score than Columbus Underground.
I thought I would check out how Webbed Marketing's own url fares in the Web -O-Meter 2.0 ... I put in their url.... for "How much Buzz does your web site have?"
"Ah, very clever. There are some things even we don't tell!"
Darn...
To put it in perspective... looking at ActiveRain on a whole:
"Your site scores a 63.5 out of 100 (activerain.com)
Yeah I can live with a 13.5 out of 100 if ActiveRain gets a 63.5 out of 100.
What more does that score prompt from the marketing company?
"You're on to something. A nice volume of people online are talking about you, right now. Sites are linking to you, bloggers care about you, discussion groups are active. Interested in knowing just what they are saying? Want to know the names of your biggest fans, or critics? Interested in joining the conversation? Contact Webbed Marketing today and let us help you understand who is Buzzing and how to connect with them."
I would think ActiveRain has a handle on what people are saying about ActiveRain. I think ActiveRain is keenly aware of who their biggest fans are and who their biggest critics are...
Maybe this is less about blogs where people can and do stop by and tell you what they think of
- you
- your company
- your blog
- your parentage
- your mothers' choice of foot apparel (thinking of "your mother wears Army boots.")
And more about brands.... businesses. Maybe that would be more fun. Look at big brands. Local brands?
If you look on the bottom of the Web-O-Meter it tells you what they are looking at:
Yahoo! SiteExplorer
Wikipedia
Technorati
NewsPad (PRWeb)
IceRocket
Del.icio.us
Digg
Google
Google Groups
Google Blogs
Twitter
StumbleUpon
YouTube
Facebook
Flickr
Myspace
Ok.... What does the Web-O-Meter 2.0 say about the BUZZ around your ActiveRain Outside blog, your website, your companies website, etc. Putting in your activerain.com/blogs/whatever/ will not tell you anything.
