My aunt just called me. The results of the cat scan are in. They returned from the doctor's office with the news to confirm the cancer. Here is the post to catch up to where we are at in this story in case you missed it.

Both of his lungs have multiple cancer tumors. His chest has enlarged lymphnoids which are most likely filled with cancer. ( funny thing- he never smoked).

His doctor told him to go home and have fun. Just do whatever he wants to do with whatever time he has left. He was spending a lot of time reading obituaries and writing his own. He is trying to get everything in order so as not to burden anyone of his children and grandchildren. My aunt is making sure she is fattening him up a bit since he started to lose weight.

He is going to the oncologist next Tuesday who will see if my grandfather is strong enough for some spot radiation on the tumors.

I will be heading out to his beautiful California wine country in July to spend some time with him and my aunt. I will continue to run my webinars and write on my blog. It will be a good therapy and keep my mind busy as I fight off the inclination to curl up and go into a cave somewhere. Pity parties never seem to attract a lot of RSVPs:)

I know that he is going to be strong enough to spend time with me on this earth just a bit longer.

God has a wonderful plan for families being together again for all eternity and I know that my grandmother, his wife of over 50+ years ( I think it was even more than 60 yrs) is looking forward to welcoming him into her arms on the other side.

Hi Katerina,

Your grandpa's a fighter.  Laughter is one good thing for fighting cancer.  It somehow helps the immune system become more active or more effective.

Katerina -

My own father just came home from the hospital this past weekend.  He has a congestive heart condition, and doctors have said we could have a few days, or we could have a few months.  Meanwhile, our goal as a family is to make certain that my dad enjoys every moment of every day, that he gets to do whatever he wants, and that he can live life to the fullest even in these last days.  Then, when all is said and done, just as your last paragraphs state, he will finally be reunited with my mother, his wife of 50+ years, for all eternity.

You and your family are in my thoughts and prayers this evening.

Hi Katerina, Your grandfather sounds amazing!! Still thinking of his children and grandchildren, living with cancer, what a wonderful person he is.... Less than two weeks ago we found out that my father-in-law has throat cancer that has spread to his chest and lung (he hasn't been the easiest to deal with).

Please keep us up to date...

Katerina:  I recently lost my 96 year old grandmother.   She was old, I know, but in my heart she was as young and vibrant as she's ever been.  I was expecting her to go, but I still wasn't ready for it when it happened.  There are no words of advice in helping us cope with losing our loved ones.

Being at peace and reunited with other loved ones who've passed on is all good.   BUT I MISS HER!!!

Katerina, You have a great attitude and your spirit lights the way for him. I know that your trip will be good therapy for both of you. I am saddened for what you must undertake but like you said, it is npot going to be a pity party. Each of our lives on earth are measured and we don't get to control the measuring tape. You and your Granddad are in our prayers.  Have a safe and wonderful trip.

Hi Katerina!  You will be in my heart and prayers.  My sister died at the age of 23 of lung cancer and never smoked.  Your grandfather sounds like a great man and I know that he is ready to re-unite with his wife of over 50+ years.  My mother only lived a short time after the passing of my father, as they had been married over 66 years.  Be strong, as my dad told me when his wife passed he was ready for the eternal life with her.

Katerina,

You are a shining example to us all as you and your loved ones face this loss.  You're balancing grief, family, business, mentoring, etc.  I'm not surprised based on what I've learned about you in a very short time but you are a true inspiration to us all.

Your and your loved ones remain in our thoughts and prayers.
