Small World and getting smaller every day!

By
Real Estate Agent with RE/MAX Landmark
Put a transaction together yesterday with an agent who is a multi million dollar producer every year and have to admit that I felt a bit intimidated by her numbers. Well, one thing lead to another and believe it or not one of her best friends works with my husband. BLAH, BLAH, BLAH! Come to find out she could not have been nicer! We have to remember that no matter what numbers we produce we are still the same on the inside and simply want to be treated with respect. Although she usually only sells homes in the million dollar range and up this small sale of only $600K was a perfect example of taking the time to get to know the agent for who she is not what she sells. A big sale for me but a very small sale for her. At that the end of the day, she gave me the best compliment by stating that she hadn't met anyone with my work ethic or level of professionalism in a long time. Thank you!

Mary- I have always found that top producers are some of the best people in the world. I was intimidated when my first mentor was the top producer in our office but learned very quickly that she put her pants on one leg at a time just like I did. Since that realization- I made it my goal to be a top producer luxury agent and I am. But I have never ever treated another agent any less than I would like to be treated myself. Katerina

Not every top producer, or client for that matter is big I, little u. I've been told if you work hard, good things can happen. Nice "small deal". That would be a large deal in my city. Congrats.

I love to hear these kinds of stories! My very first transaction as a new agent was with one of our area's largest producers. Like you, I was intimidated at the thought of negotiating with her, and just hoping she wouldn't ask me how many houses I had sold! She turned out to be such a professional and responsive agent. She was very personable and not at all uppity. I've done several transactions with her since then, and she is consistently a pleasure to work with. Go figure!

How nice to hear. They all started somewhere. And, with the luxury market drying up and people not having disposable money to spend, they have to sell other things. If you want to play in the sandbox you have to play nice with the rest of us. :D

I'm sure you deserved the compliment Mary, good job! It's your choice...choose to never let another agent intimidate you! Good luck in your business.
