With the prevalence of cell phone related auto accidents on the rise, states are beginning to crack down on what you can and cannot do behind the wheel. Just this month, a Boston trolley driver caused a severe accident injuring over 50 people because he was text messaging his girlfriend. With his face planted in his phone, typing away at the keypad, the negligent state employee slammed his trolley full of passengers into another trolley.

Ten states, as well as our nation’s capital, have outlawed the use of text messaging for drivers on the roadways and ten other states are in the pipeline to follow suit. Some areas of the country are even examining the possibilities of installing beat belts on passenger busses.

As states make an attempt to make the highways safer, do not forget to secure a reliable auto insurance policy for those unavoidable and unexpected situations.
