I know they are VERY active little (or not so little) guys & drive our dog nuts -she keeps smellling at the mole hills and trying to dig them out!  So far no luck though...

Hello Nancy,

We have them in our yard too but nothing like the active little buggers in the photo!  My goodness!  I agree with Monique, are you sure it's just moles? Good luck!

Rita

Oh no!  How terrible.  I would be insane crazy obsessed with getting them like Bill Murray in Caddy Shack!

Hi Michael & Cheron - yes that is my yard (or I guess I should say mine & the moles!)

Hi Rita - I think we just grow nice healthy sized moles in Olympia!  Must be all the rain...

Hi Sharon - It is definitely kind of frustrating since we have yet to really discover an effective remedy - anybody out there have ideas??  Our exchange student is convinced he can flood them out with the hose - but so far I think it is just making them mad!!

Wow - that's awful!  Do you want to borrow a couple of Jack Russells terriers?  Those moles won't last a day - but your yard would suffer.

Nancy - I need to disclose that some people may find this solution unpleasant. If you or anyone else may be disturbed by reading graphic details about killing moles, do not read any further.

Go to your local hardware or plumbing supply store where they cut and thread iron pipe. Ask for the shavings that collect below the pipe threading die. Take these shavings home a put a handful in each mole hole (use extreme caution, this stuff is really sharp). That should take care of your problem.

Here is how it works: Moles are bleeders, so an open wound does not clot. When they try to surface in a hole filled with the metal shavings they will be severely injured and eventually bleed to death. Give it a try...it has worked for me!

Thanks for comments, suggestions and commiserations - the moles are definitely annoying (not to mention really destructive!!)

Nancy,

They're fun little critters, aren't they. We've had a few of them. :)
