May 30, 2009 - Walking Tours of Historic Downtown Murphys are available at no charge on Saturday

May 30, 2009 - The Spice Tin Grand Opening. Dave Bowman will provide background

music as visitors sample French confits, Apricot Pepper Sauce and salts from around the

world. Local author, Terry Traub R.D.H., B.S. will be signing her book, Food For Some,

Poison for Others which covers food allergies and includes extensive recipes. For the BBQ

aficionados, tri tips will be smoked in the barrel using Jan's Sidewinder and One Trick Pony

rubs for a fun comparison of these two custom seasonings. All are welcomed to visit the

spice wall with 150+ spices from Allspice to Zaatar and enjoy the culinary sights and scents

of world cultures.

"Home Concert, Fundraiser for the Arts" featuring the Mountain Melody Women's Chorus and plein air artists from 2-

May 30, 2009 - Sustainable Home Bus Tour sponsored by the Central Sierra Ecological

Building Association will be featuring the Red Apple Ranch development here in Murphys.

Spend an inspiring, informative and fun day along the beautiful Highway 4 corridor of

Calaveras County visiting three examples of sustainable green building. The bus tour,

May 30 & 31 - 1st Annual Calaveras International Film Festival. 30 films, 20 countries, 2 days, 1 Festival!

Yes, you read it correctly, Murphys is now home to the 1st Annual Calaveras International Film Festival. The

festival's goal is to bring awareness to independent film making and share quality films that are not on the main

stream circuit. A fun and creative twist that the CIFF has thrown in is that each film has been paired with a local

wine. The CIFF chose Murphys for it's unique qualities, great food, beauty and great wines. The weekend starts off

on Friday night with a BBQ and wine tasting at the Zucca Mountain Vineyards Tasting Room and Garden. Discover

one of their 2007 not yet released wines on this night only! Saturday morning, walk over to the Black Bart Theatre

where the festival starts during the day with award winning Feature Films. Saturday night stroll over to the

Newsome Harlow Tasting Room off of Main Street at 7pm for the After Hours fest featuring a collection of films in the

experimental and grind house genre. Sunday enjoy more films at the Black Bart Theatre. Tickets are $35.00 for

Saturday or $30.00 for Sunday (Includes the After Hours Fest at Newsome Harlow and the Kick off BBQ at Zucca) Or

May 31, 2009 - CHICKEN-IN-A-BARREL - Michelson Elementary Parent Club's annual fundraiser will be at

Murphys' Park from 12:00 noon until 6:00 p.m. They will be raffling off Ironstone Amphitheater 2009 Concert

Series tickets for two people (only 125 tickets being sold -- so chances for winning are excellent). This is for each

and every concert at Ironstone. There are a limited number of tickets left; contact Yvonne Heryford at 728-3371 if

you want to purchase yours now. This is a great prize and goes to a great cause -- our local kids.

May 31, 2009 - Glory Hole Sports has put together a great line-up of free seminars on fishing for 2009.

The seminars will be held at Glory Hole at 3:00 pm on select Sundays. A raffle will be held after each seminar, there

9:00 am in the Murphys Historic Hotel (Downstairs-Gold Room) June's speaker will be Glenn McGourty of

Biodynamics. There is no cost for CWA members to attend, non-members $10.00 Breakfast is offered from the

June 5, 2009 - First Friday in the Park from 5:30 - 8 pm. Fun for the entire family. Free live entertainment by

local musicians. Food provided by local caterers and restaurants and beverages will be available for purchase.

Sponsored by the Calaveras Community Club. Proceeds go to help maintain the park.
