Will you find serenity this summer?

I read Kathy McGraw's Post in which she stated location is a big factor in achieving serenity.  This is so true, and based on the various issues confronting us, now more than ever it is important to find that place to escape to.

I am fortunate that I can arrive at serenity quickly, all I need to do is walk out to my backyard.  However I so love escaping to the beach where I can sit and listen to the waves, watch the various cloud formations, the birds looking around for food. children building sand castles and of course the sunrise and sunset.

So make sure to take some time out for yourself this summer.

I just love being near the water.  I used to live at the ocean in San Francisco.  I love the sounds of the waves crashing and those wonderful seal lions barking... It is instant serenity!

By God's grace, I will find some. I love our lake cottage and usually go every weekend. I can feel the stress leave my body the closer I get. Something about the water and not being connected at the hip with my lap top.

Have a great one, Jen.

Jennifer, that's a hard photograph to take well, what with the glare off the water... Well done.

Hi Jennifer, I read Kathy's lovely post and do agree.  We all need a balance of work and play and I'm planning a get-away right now myself for the summer.  For me this year it will be a road trip to some places I have been before but not in a long time.

Jennifer, I get my serenity sitting in front of my fish tank :)

And OH yes I also get serenity like sitting at the beach, but I did not realize that it was clouds that I was looking at :) :)

Jennifer, even though we live next to a VERY large city our subdivision is located in a very quiet area and that gives me the serenity that I love!  We also spend a lot of time at the lake on our sail boat.  I do have to say that I quit racing with my husband though.  That was far from serene.  He now has boy crew.  I accidently knocked him off at the bay years ago and that was the end of my racing.  Had I known that would do it I might have done it sooner.  I get enough action in real estate I don't feel the need to race.

Good point. I find serenity in my home and on the hiking trails next to it. When I lived in a big city, I could find it in my living room, but never outside! Now, even in my living room, I'm looking at great views that bring peace.

Gita Thank you and I hope your weekend is going well.

Joan - I don't know about the barking seals, it depends on how loud they are.  :)

Missy - Great idea to leave the laptop behind, sound like you have a great place to get-away to.  Here is hoping you are having a great weekend.

Cynthia - I couldn't agree more.

Brian thank you, I was pleased with the result.

Carole - That sounds like a great plan, how about upstate NY?

George - I can understand the feeling you get from staring at the fish tank.  I had friend who had the largest fish tank I have seen, with very big fishes and whenever I went over to their house I was mesmerized by the fishes.

Marchel - That was too cool you knocked your husband off bay so that did it.  I agree that real estate provide more than enough action :)

As I stated even in my backyard I can find serenity, chirping birds, bunnies, colorful flowers are a few of the things that help me acheive this, so I fully understand that you can find serenity at home.

Ann It sounds very beautiful where you are.

Jennifer, it's June (tomorrow) and we haven't put our sailboat in the water- it's still here, at the house, waiting. This is a great reminder to be proactive with things OTHER than real estate- we shouldn't ever be to busy to "get away" for a few hours, and need to make the time to do it. Thanks for the important reminder!

Jennifer - Everybody should have a peaceful and serene haven to turn to. And, fortunately in the Hudson Valley there are many places besides our own backyards.

I've always been able to make my own serenity regardless of where I was. I use plants, water, and sound, all of which bring in various wildlife to visit me. Very serene.
