How Do You Portray You?

By
Real Estate Agent with BCR Realtors 262359

Recently I was trying to study what others are doing to market themselves. What kind of image or theme are they trying to portray to the public? Does it look professional? Does it make you want to call on them for real estate services?  What I concluded is that very few do any of the the above mentioned. They are either poorly thought out or either a different version of the same theme used by the majority of us in in real estate land.

I have noticed that it is obvious that some agents use a professional marketing service. And it is obvious that some don't really care. For instance that particular pose like   the hand on hips, crossed arms authoritative look, "  or pouty lips look. The 70 year old with the foggy "glamor" shot.    The "GQ" look that my 20's something son laughing and jokingly says my facebook photo resembles.  Or the one agent's ad  I recently saw that looked like 1-800-Wet- Tshirt .  These are the hodgepodge of portrayals out there.  Then there are those that really spent time and effort planning and working a "look" until it was just right.  They simply make you want to Trust and Call them.

I am well aware this old face has seen way too much cold wind and bright sun. It is what it is.. I can't do the authoritative hands on hips shot because it would accentuate my pot belly.  The blue sport coat look is not really me anymore.   The real me...well it's just me. I like to help folks buy or sell real estate and help other agents become successful.

  Have a prosperous week!

I like the new picture with the cap and sunglasses BUT one would not recognize you on the street from it.  Nice blog.

Hi Trey!
It is interesting that you write about this.  I noticed a marked difference in the public's reaction to met at open houses when I dressed down a little.  I still looked professional...but no jackets and I wear slacks anyway, so dresses aren't an option for me anyway.  People felt more comfortable when I look a little more like them.

Trey, How about putting your hand up to appear to be looking beyond...? I typically wear dress suits for winter and as well as summer but am learning to dress down a little. I was always told that you never know who you may meet so you want to look your best!

I feel in general you are really right. It is difficult here in the summers as it is very hot end particularly humid. Bad combo when you are trying to dress nice !
