If you leave a comment, Russel will visit your blog and comment.Long-time readers know that I like all things nature. I think Mother and Father Nature have some wonderful things on this Earth, some considered beautiful, some considered ugly, some seen every day, and some seen rarely.

One a recent trip to the San Diego Zoo to visit the new Elephant Odyssey that just opened, I discovered that there are more exhibits in Elephant Odyssey than just elephants.

Although there are still some exhibits to be completed, it was well worth the quick journey since I found the following little ones on view:

Desert scorpion, San Diego Zoo, May 2009

Banded rattlesnake, San Diego Zoo, May 2009

Don't want to meet one of those critters unexpectedly!

Russel, having spent 10 yrs in South Dakota, we are very familiar with the sound of rattlers!  Be very very quiet!  Steven and Marti

I wouldn't want to get in the way of the snake and the scorpion.  They look like they might win the fight.

Hey, Tim and Pam - Unexpected meetings are not welcome at all. That's why I like to go to the Zoo. There is a good sized piece of glass between me and them. LOL

Hey, Steven and Marti - As much as I've hiked and camped out in my life, I've never come across a rattlesnake in the wild. I did come across an alligator in the East Texas Piney Woods, as well as some cottonmouth snakes, but no rattlers.

Hey, Nate - I'm pretty sure I would be a loser in that fight. I love nature, but evolution has put each and every critter in its place, except for man. We just take the places we want. LOL

Hey, Treva - Glad to have you back and to have added something to your day. I've got another thousand pictures or so from recent visits to the Quail Botanical Gardens, the Zoo, and some special areas of San Diego.

Hey, Eric  and Katiejo - Not even the cute, little garden snakes?

Hey, Brian - I put a disclaimer in my title. Did you forget to read the title? LOL
