Now in it's third year the the "Blue Bridge Festival" continues to build the "Bridge" with a river of music flowing across York Region. Designed to build bridges between the communities of York Region it begins in Jacksons Point includes events in Newmarket and culminates in Unionville. It build bridges between the arts, community groups and professionals, in both Upper and Lower York Region. It is a festival where internationally known musicians and poets mingle with regional performers and audiences of all ages.
The Blue Bridge's eclectic concerts are unique in that they offer a combination of classical chamber music, a live orchestra and massed choir, cabaret songs, opera singers, poetry and more.
"Ardeleana and the renowned Yellow River Ensemble, (traditional Chinese instruments) will be performing a work commissioned by acclaimed Canadian composer Alice Ho. Other works of new music include work by Ann Southam, Rob Clutton as well as the original songs by singer/songwriters participating in the festival." from the festival website

Music includes songs from the 1920's and 30's, a Haydn trio and a world premiere by Canadian composer John Gray.

Labyrinth Poetry Walk
free pre-gala event. - Take a meditative walk with festival and street beat poets in the old Labyrinth located beside the church. You are welcome to bring a poem with you to this event.

The Blue Bridge Festival has formed a bridge with the Unionville Festival to offer a wide spectrum of entertainment. There are approximately 30 events planned throughout the day with something for everyone from musical story theater and mask making for children to chamber music to poetry walks and workshops, and off beat jazz and even a canoe ballet.
