Cary North Carolina

Cary, North Carolina, home of the nation’s first ever Planned Unit Development (PUD), was founded in 1750 and originally named Bradford’s Ordinary.

In 1854, Allison Francis "Frank" Page bought 300 acres of farmland and renamed his little purchase Cary, after Samuel Fenton Cary, a former Ohio congressman whom he admired.  Page planned the first streets in Cary and he built a sawmill, a general store and a post office. Cary was incorporated in 1879 and Page became the town’s first Postmaster and eventually its first Mayor.

Located in Wake County, just minutes from downtown Raleigh, Cary was the fastest growing municipality between 2006 and 2007.

Government leaders in this beautiful town have long held as a priority the value of keeping Cary clean, green and aesthetically pleasing.

Cary has won numerous awards as one of the nation’s best places to live, work and play. Home of the USA Baseball team, excellent medical facilities, and great schools and shopping, it’s no wonder why so many relocate here and why the ones who already have love calling Cary home!

Craig, it is interesting that a man founded this city and named it after a congressman from Ohio! It must be a lovely city for receiving all the awards! It is special too because you are there promoting it!

Caren - As I sit here (blushing), all I can say is that Cary is truly a great little place to call home. Thank you, as always, for bringing a smile to my face.
