Feng Shui and LIFE-What about BAD Neighbors?

As a Feng Shui Consultant in New York, I am always surprised by the "cluster" of calls I get.  Sometimes I get calls from clients because of financial issues...and they seem to come together.  Often times it's health issues and THEY come together as well.

The last few weeks have been calls from clients who are having issues with their neighbors.  I'm sorry to say it's more often then I would have liked to hear on just how many people seem to have the WORST neighbors.  Some actually think of moving they are so unhappy, particularly if they are sensitive to the Energy coming from these neighbors.

They ask me if Feng Shui can help and I believe it does-as long as they help THEMSELVES as well.  There are intentional methods we use in Feng Shui to help keep our Spaces sacred and our "own."  Space Clearings are often invaluable to have a person reclaim their own space.  For those that enjoy the Blessings, we have some pretty Powerful ones.

We balance their space, use everything we have and then our Clients need to take some action of their own.  The more they focus on the issues, the worse they are likely to become; when it's gone on a long time it seems even little things begin to annoy them.  Things are not likely to get BETTER if they do this, only worse.

Neighbors and Feng Shui by Feng Shui Consultant Carole Provenzale

I was interested the other day in listening to a talk Dr. Wayne Dyer was giving.  He has written several wonderful books, one of my favorite being "The Power of Intention."  In Feng Shui we are taught INTENTION is 80% of what we wish to create in our lives and the actual physical changes in our surrounding account for the other 20%.

We ask our clients not to just "move an object" but to change it's location with a certain intention in mind.  These are the clients that have the BEST possible results from Feng Shui

During his talk, Dr. Dyer was speaking about "uncluttering" your mind as well as Focusing on the PositiveIt creates a SHIFT in the Energy when you shift your attention to focus on all the Good things in your life, not the bad.  I tell people honestly when they call that if they can't do that, the changes they are likely to see will not really account for much.

Neighbors in Feng Shui by Feng Shui Long Island

Sadly, some don't want to hear it.  They want to hear that Feng Shui alone will change everythingFeng Shui CAN but it needs help and a lot of Intention to get the best results.  YOU play a direct part in the outcomes you are going to get from a Feng Shui Consultation.

It would be much easier to tell these people what they want to hear---not to mention, much more lucrative.  Sadly, it's not true.  If you are PROMISED you'll get everything you want after a Feng Shui Consultation, think hard.    And a reminder; you get back from Feng Shui what YOU put into it!

Carole- I love this post. It is SO true. The sad thing is that people don't want to hear it. They never want to know that they are a part of their problem. Intention is so important because that is lazer focused energy. What we focus on expands. You get more of what you think about. Think about it. :)

Carole a good reminder that we all must do more than simply show up! It takes intention and commitment!  It take some to achieve what we want to manifest.  I think some will disagree, but visualizing an outcome with nothing more does not make it so.

Carole, I have helped several families relocate but they did not like their neighbors.  I feel very blessed to have wonderful neighbors.

Carole, we do tend to bring into our lives that which we focus on so focusing on the negative is never good for us. Who needs bad neighbors? Steer clear of them somehow.

Carole,

I agree...making the effort to turn things around is always a good thing.  Maybe a surprise good act would help turn things around.  Something that the neighbor would not expect.  I know it goes against the grain for the neighbor who has been putting up with more than he can handle...but he might as well try it.  At this point he doesn't have much to loose and if it works he has a lot to gain!!!

Life is too short to be caught in a spiral of negative thoughts.  Your post points out that if we intentionally refocus or move something with intention we can overcome most negative energy.  I wish the people with bad neighbors the peace that comes from acceptance of things they can not change outside their circle and change from within,

Carole - very much like the rest of life "you get back from Feng Shui what YOU put into it!"

Good morning Carole,

Feng Shui is so much like life....you get out what you put in.

Our neighbour has 4 boys between 8-14 and they can get kind of rowdy....I don't mind though, as long as they're not up on my porch peaking in the windows (which sometimes they have done).  ((-:

I always think it's very sad when neighbours despise eachother....life is too short for such nonsense.

I love Dr. Dyer, unclutter life is important, though I do not think Feng Shui can help a bad neighbor!

There have been times in the past when I felt such a conflict with a neighbor...and ultimately realized I needed to rearrange my thinking and my approach to the situation...not that the neighbors ever changed much, but my experience of them did! I was very grateful. thanks for sharing your expertise, Carole. Hugs from me to you, a fave AR neighbor :-)

Katerina, Some neighbors can be awfully difficult to deal with but we all play a role.  I'm sad to say my prospective client didn't want to hear that "just" Feng Shui will not solve the entire problem.

Joan, You made a wonderful point about visualization.  I use that often and it's a WONDERFUL tool.  Shifts happen from our energy and visualizing works so well.

Marchel, My old neighbors who I treasured are long gone and here people are mostly too busy to even MEET eachother.  What a shame, I miss leaving the front door unlocked so we could all run in and out of each other's homes :)

Gary, No one wants them but some get them.  And it's very true about their focus, the more they allow it to interfere with their happiness the worse it will become.

Linda,  I did suggest to one of these people to extend a greeting to their neighbor next time they see them. It can catch them off guard and maybe they would respond well.  But my caller was horrified at the suggestion.

Tom, Maybe because things are more crowded that I see this more often...I'm not sure but fondly remember the "old" days when we were all friends.

Paddy, Well put, thank you.  Things are becoming worse because of their focus and while Feng Shui can help, it does not work well without a person's Intentions.  Intend on the BEST and that's what you'll get...

Kris, Congratulations on your wonderful feature!  We are big on uncluttering for so many reasons!

Bill, There are adjustments we can make but needa clients willingness to work too.

Mike, People make promises and Feng Shui can change the energy but it's not always in exactly what you want--it may be what you need!

Jo, It is too short and honestly, retaliation doesn't work.  Calling the police only makes an argument worse unless there is danger.  There are ways to use Feng Shui to keep negative energy away but they must also focus on all the Good Things.

Eileen, I love Dr. Dyer as well, he is so insightful.  Certain Feng Shui remedies DO help but with a clients intentions.

I have had a couple of bad neighbors, but I've always been one to just lay back and let things be.

The loud, noisy neighbor? I put on my headphones and listen to The Beatles.

The neighbor with the 24/7 barking dog? I put on my headphones and listen to The Beatles.

The neighbor with the loud Harley David motorcycle that you can hear from seven miles away? I put on my headphones and listen to The Beatles.

The neighbor with the classic 442 with the glass-pack mufflers who leaves at 4:00 every morning? I make sure I'm working at 4:00 every morning with my headphones on listening to The Beatles.

By the way, my headphones are the old-timey ones with the huge earmuffs that fit over one's entire ear, and since I have huge ears, my headphones also are huge, providing lots of peace and quiet between Beatles songs.

Betina, His books are wonderful and always enlightening....but I love when I catch those specials and can actually see and hear him talk.

Russel, Does this mean you like the Beatles?  :)  I think you have the perfect approach to some of the noisiest neighbors I've ever heard (and I've had some loud ones myself!).  Still, I have to forgive the classic 442, I can tell you I'd be having FUN with that car.....I remember them well!
