A young man in the Real Estate world needs YOUR help and he needs it now. This is the FIRST time I have ever tried raising money for anyone, so please bare with me.
I posted this a couple of months back:
While Shawn was new to the Real Estate business, he took the bull by the horns and was awarded the 2006 "ROOKIE" of the year for our office.
I just want to remind everyone to keep Shawn Barnes in your thoughts and prayers daily. Shawn has a LONG road ahead of him in his recovery process, and will need the help of those around him to assist in his recovery process. For those of you that have not heard, Shawn Barnes is the real estate agent the 2 Fayetteville Arkansas police officers pulled out of a burning SUV last month. PLEASE keep Shawn in your thoughts and Prayer's !!!!
Shawn will be moving to Rehab at the end of next week. I wish I could tell you in words the spirit and fight of this young man. You see, Shawn had to have his right leg amputated above the knee because of the burns. Several days later it was decided that the left leg would also have to be amputated below the knee. They kept Shawn in a chemically induced coma, for NUMEROUS weeks so he would and could not remember the events that had unfolded.
This accident happened the 3rd week of March, Shawn has been in the Little Rock Burn unit since that night. I don't think I need to tell you the costs involved in such care. As most real estate agents, Shawn has no medical insurance. This is just the beginning for Shawn and his long road ahead. He is determined to get back on his legs and begin selling Real Estate again. Our office has taken the ball on Shawn's listings, his household bills, and we continue to list properties under his name.
Coldwell Banker Faucette here in Springdale has started a "FRIENDS of SHAWN" account at a local bank. 2 weeks ago, at our state rally in Rogers, we raised approx.$4,600.00 to open this account.
*Our company picnic will be June 7th and we plan to have a fund-raiser there( Silent Auction 1 idea is to auction off a LISTING, we have a builder who is willing to do so, and the commission goes to Shawn's fund).
*June 21 & 22,2007 we are having a pancake breakfast at Applebee's @ 5.00 a plate, of which $3 will go to Shawn's fund.
*We are going to have a garage sale in our office parking lot June 16,2007 to help raise funds.
If you have any ideas for fund-raising or items that we could auction off, it would be GREATLY APPRECIATED !!!
I tell you this that despite our BEST efforts, this is just a drop in the bucket as to what will be needed. His medical bills will be astronomical as you can imagine.
I ask that you search your heart, TELL other Realtors of our efforts, and make a contribution to the "Friends of Shawn" fund.
