Some people hem and haw when they have something to say, and some people just come right out and say what they mean.  We've gotten to be such a diverse society, and are expected to accept different groups, and different lifestyles....but there are times that no matter what...some people aren't wanted in the neighborhood.

Kathy, I'm just not an "in your face" kind of person - I don't care for the sign.  I understand the message, and certainly  want to protect children and the general public from harm.  I just wouldn't want to read that sign everytime I drove by.

Sally-That's what I said first time I saw this..."Wow" and was shocked that  this huge sign greeted people coming into the Valley.  Then this one appeared in the next town over......I finially got a picture of it.

Mary- I am surprised that in CA which is so litigious that no one has complained and had the signs removed.

Tom- I do think it gets the message across.

I like the billboard. Instead of just making a comment on the picture, I went to the website. There is a wealth of information there. I encourage anyone who reads this post to check out http://www.valleywatch.org for the amazing facts you will find there.

Thanks,
Catherine in NY

Kathy, I don't know if that would really be a deterrent but I hope so.  I can't believe they are breaking their own laws here and housing them with a half mile of schools!   I wouldn't love the sign but quite honestly, anything that helps is worth a try...I'm glad to see the community come together!

Kathy,

I love it! Just knowing they may see it when drving by, maybe the daily reminder will do them good! Yeah! Congratulations, to California for this one!!

Kathy, I grew up in Fontana so I know that most of the people that live in the San Bernardino and Riverside counties are tough, thick skinned folks and this sign is pretty much what it takes to get a message across.

Catherine- I was wondering if anyone would actually go check out the website, glad you did, and as you said there is a wealth of information there :)  Thanks .......

Carole- I agree......

Judy- You never know what Californians will come up with :)

Dan- You were right down the freeway from me, and these signs are off Winchester, and now in  San Jacinto.  First time I saw it was seriously a WOW as the sign is huge!

And understandably so! Nothing wrong with forewarning in this case - could possibly prevent a horrible situation...

Having checkedthe website on occasion, I find CA has such a huge concentration of these offenders living in neighborhoods. It concerns me a lot. Anything that might help is worthwhile, I think, when it comes to protecting children.

Debi- No one should underestimate the power of Grassroots Organizations that have a mission :)

Mara- Yes, CA seems to have more than our fair share, but then again we have more people than most other states. The websites are great resources, and it seems my neighborhood has a large concentration of offenders.

Good to warn the offenders...people do modify behavior when under scrutiny.

I think it is great that a community has banded together to protect their children. We can't expect or demand the government do everything or we risk a much bigger problem. Community involvement is what this country was founded on. Our community got together for freedom and created something great.

Happy Fourth of July! (Independence Day)
