Where is Your Odometer? What ActiveRain Has Done For Me!!!

By
Real Estate Agent with West + Main

I recently read a post by Randy Prothero entitled Sellers Who May not Really Want to Sell in this wonderful post Randy mentions a seller that thought her home was worth more because it had an original kitchen. That got me thinking of car buffs which I am to a certain extent which made me think of how we think about our points on ActiveRain.

As I write this post my points will go over 60,000. There are a lot of posts about points not meaning anything, odometerabout how we love them and so on. When the car analogy came into my mind I started thinking of our points as a car's odometer - those of you with more points have come further down the ActiveRain road. All of us travel at different paces and we all learn a different speeds. My odometer shows I have come a ways, but it also shows I have a lot to learn.

I started to write this with the names of those that have touched me, helped me get to where I am but the list was way too long. You all know who you are and if you are reading this you are one of the people that make me a better Realtor and a better person.

ActiveRain is more than a community, more than a blogging site it is a learning tool, a marketing tool and more than any of us could put into one article.

What ActiveRain Has Done For Me

  • ActiveRain is full of Real Estate Professionals from all over that I can seek advice and words of encouragement from.
  • ActiveRain has provided me with an with a ton of web power to market myself, my listings, my areas and my newfound friends.
  • ActiveRain has provided web power for my personal website moving it up the Google ladder.
  • ActiveRain members have posted a ton of tools that make me look more professional and save me time.
  • ActiveRain gives me a place to learn and research

  • ActiveRain is a welcoming community to all that join

Thank you ActiveRain and all of you that make this community a great place to belong and may we all continue to benefit from each other and this place we call ActiveRain.

Thesa -- Congratulations on your 60,000 points.  We've enjoyed reading the posts and comments that have earned you those points.  Keep up the great writing - I always look forward to reading your posts.

Wish I knew how do make that neat "name" thingy you did for Sally -- I'd insert it here -- guess you'll have to teach me how -- then, when you reach 100,000 points I can do it.

Thesa, a big congratulations on reaching 60,000!  You're right about all the benefits of AR.  One of my absolute favorites is the wonderful people who write from the heart (like you) and share so readily with the rest of us.  Keep it up.  100,000  is not to far away!

Wow!  Congratulations on 60,000 points!  I've been busy setting up my profile, reading posts and learning from all of the people here.  I was invited by Lisa Hill from Florida that I met on YouTube.  LOL!!!  I'm going to use some of what you wrote to invite other people in my office to participate in the AR community.  If I had this wealth of knowledge when I first got into real estate.... I can't even imagine...  =)

Thesa.....  as a few have said in regards to your statement.... this is a great learning tool. I consider myself a wealth of knowledge, but I have learned so many new things... Such as marketing myself online, SEO, and so much more.  Nice tribute to AR and so many that are a part of it.

Thesa - I love AR and points. The good thing about points versus the odometer is, we are getting better while our car is aging1
