Our clients, the real estate consumers don't care that you've enjoyed the game, that you've played a good game. The consumer wants, needs, and deserves to cross the goal line! You've got to keep moving towards your goals everyday!

"Raised a farm kid, life was lived to the put-put tempo of an old John Deere 50. Farmers are the ultimate optimist, keeping their eye on the goal and doing what they can each day to move towards that goal. That is a lesson every real estate person needs! We can't do every thing today, but we can do some thing!"

Lou Ludwig posted this quote yesterday, I couldn't disagree more with regard to movating real estate pople. It's not bad for life in general.

Focus on the Journey

 "Focus on the journey,

not the destination.

Joy is found not in finishing an activity

but on doing it."

Our clients are not there to entrain us.

Bill - I think the reference is to the greater journey. However, I agree, almost everything we do should be with a goal in mind, and we should reach those goals as often as possible, especially in real estate.

Mike,

Thanks. I think that is what the speaker intended. I didn't think it was not used that way.

Bill I agree this would apply to enjoying the journey that each and everyday brings.  To take the time to enjoy what we have today.  But does not apply to something like a Real Estate Transaction, in that situation the journey is meaningless if the deal does not close.

George,

I enjoy the journey! I explore life! I can't wait to crest the next hill! Tomorrow can't get here soon enough!

Yes, it is how you play the game and nothing is more important than my personal integrity. I will not violate my integrity. I am not a transactional person! If I accept your fiduciary it is not enough that I enjoy the journey, you employ me to succeed!

To that end to every extent possible I will act like the farmer, I will move towards the goal! I will not break the rules, I will know them and use them! Always acting in accordance with "Bill's Rules"!

Success isn't always possible, but in 40 years no one has ever hired me to fail. No one has ever paid me for me to have a good time.

Only doing what you enjoy is one of the benefits of being very good at what you do.

Simper Fi!
