14 Comments on You Want 6% To Stick A Sign In My Front Yard?
Better on your yard than on your a$$
that would have been my immediate response but . .
I would have said. . my sign tells the world who will be selling your home. .that is my signature, and my job is to keep there a few short weeks not months!
Oh those bad apples...yup...we are all in it just for the money which is why we pay to go to work...dues, insurance, technology fees, listing fees, closing fees...yup it's just instant bucks with those magic signs. Wonder how his sign is working for him...but then again...maybe his company is paying his insurance, vacation....la la la...blog on !
Gabrielle,
You were kind even to extend the chat a bit!
Gabrielle - Great blog. Congrats on the mindset that you don't have to beg for a listing. Some people are better left FSBO. I am a broker/owner now but when I was selling FSBO's were a major source of listings. I listed about 250/year which means I went to a LOT of listing appointments. In the beginning I was shocked at what came out of their mouths. It is a great feeling to say "No thank you. I am not interested in listing your home." There were sellers that would ask why and I would tell them.. "Because the listing agreement says that you are hiring me for my knowledge, experience, and advise in the marketing and sale of your property. If you do not understand or agree to the value of the benefits I offer I will be unable to perform the job in which you are considering hiring me for."
Gabrielle,
Good decision. There are some clients that just suck the life out of a Realtor.
I'm still amazed that there are so many people who still think that this job is so easy.

Thanks for posting the information above this morning. I really enjoy reading your blogs over a great cup of coffee. Have an awesome day.
Where can one buy that "magic" sign that will sell a property just by sticking it in a yard? Oh, they must be sold out!
You called this one right, by politely ending the conversation. Wow, 2 years FSBO.
Great post.... if a sign sold properties we would all have been out of business years ago.
Gabrielle if it is so easy, I wonder why the FSBO hasn't sold their home in two years. I'm going to guess that it was also overpriced. Good post! Thanks.
I wish I had a dime for every time I have heard this rant from a FSBO. Please come and walk in my shoes for ONE day MR FSBO!
Gabrielle, great post. We've all had these. Recently I spoke to one that I had visited a couple of years ago. At that time I suggested a price that was $75,000 below his asking price and he wouldn't go for it. It's now listed for $25,000 below what I suggested the, and is currently over priced for today's market. I would have earned my 6% - maybe more.
Hi Gabrielle ~ No thank you! Life is too short and our time to precious to get involved with people like this. Once the warning bells go off I sloooowly back out of the room... Really though, I just don't have it in me to deal with attitudes like this. I know some of my colleagues see it as a challenge or don't want to pass up an opportunity but I just can't - it would affect my peace of mind and the rest of my business. Good for you!

Gabrielle - great post. Some situations are no-win, nad some people are best left to their own devices.
Gabrielle,
Some folks are open to opportunity, while others (like this FSBO) develop an arsenal of anger to keep from having to face their own failure.
