Hi Kathleen, this must be a photograph of your parents. You look very much like your mom! Beautiful photo!

LOURDES: Yes, this is my Mom and Dad, Unfortunately they are in heaven, I do miss them and always think about them. I have so much to be thankful for, especially their work ethics and character-building traits they gave me. Growing up many people would say my mom and I looked like sisters.

What is it about pictures from the 1940s, that make you hear big band music in your head, see stiffly starched aprons and hair pulled up into a pompodour? Nice picture of your parents.

MYRL: I grew up in the 40's and my parents loved music so I remember the 78's playing their favorites especially their bands like Jimmy Dorsey and Glenn Miller. Check out Youtube of 40's music at

Funny ...just tonight we were at my mom and dad's looking at old pictures and dad had on his uniform. They just celebrated 58 years together today. I really enjoy that era a lot.

Kathleen, What a GREAT picture!

I surprised my Mother for Mother's day this year and while in Colorado I went through all their old pictures. My son just got out of the Army and I wanted an 8x10 of my Dad to put on the same shelf as my son. I actually found one where I think they are about the same age. My Dad was drafted during World War II at age 23 and my son's picture was taken when he was deployed to Iraq at age 23. I am blessed to still have both of my parents, they celebrated 62 years together this year.

OMG! You look just like your mother! If the photo wasn't so old, I would have thought this was you.

TREY: Happy 58th Anniversary to your parents. If my parents were still living they would be celebrating their 68th this December.

MARCHAL: First I have to say that I am so happy for you that your son has come home safely and that your parents are alive and just celebrated their 62nd anniversary You are blessed which I know you know. I love old photos like these. Something about them is always so powerful.

The quality of old photos is usually a lot better than we think they had the technology for back then. Even being scanned in, this photograph looks great. Thanks for sharing your parents with us.

You do look like your Mom! I love these old pictues. I"ve got some of my parents at that age and they look so young and full of expectation and life. Thanks for sharing. Makes me want to share on of my Mom.....which I'll do next week.

DARCY and TONY: This a priceless keepsake photo that I have displayed to enjoy each day and to remind me it is because of their love that i am here, their first child, conceived in Des Moines, Iowa, while my Dad was stationed there before going to Germany.

JL: They are powerful. Families need to take them our and talk about its history now while alive. It seems we look for these picture when someone dies and we want the family and friends to view them at their wake. Enjoy them now!

Like many of the commenter above, Kathleen, I love old photos, too. You look so much like your mother. How nice it is to have these kinds of things to remember those that are no longer with us. I have a photo of my parents at their prom. While neither one has passed away yet, they did divorce when I was 10 and it's nice to have this beautiful photo of them.
