If you leave a comment, Russel will visit your blog and comment.I told Zoey the Cool Cat that I was going to do a blog entry about the San Diego Zoo cats, so she has deserted the home office and gone out to the dining room to pout. Nonetheless....

Some people like to protest Zoos, claiming that the animals should be out in the wild, but in some cases, not all, the animals in the Zoo are the last of their species, are injured, or otherwise can't be in the wild. So a Zoo is a perfect place for some of these wild animals to be placed so that we can appreciate them and appreciate what the overpopulation of the Earth is doing to them and their habitats.

I think that when I come back in my afterlife, I certainly want to be either an indoor kitty cat or a cat that gets to live at a real nice Zoo somewhere, preferably a Zoo with nice weather, good food, and maybe even my own hammock.

Hello Russel,

Cute photos of Zoey and the wild cat, which looks like a Lynx.  Enjoyed your post!  Thank you for sharing!

I would say Zoey is enjoying her life as a kitty cat at your house.  She knows she has it made and rules the household.

Hey, Folks - I don't know whether Zoey the Cool Cat inherited the catnap genes, or whether the lynx has been spying on Zoey the Cool Cat and taking lessons. LOL

At the Zoo's new $45 million (what recession) Elephant Odyssey that opened last week, they will have some big cats in larger enclosures over there. The Odyssey covers almost eight acres.

One of the new enclosures actually has a huge window into the cat's bedroom, something that will really be neat when they get all their cats in there. In their old enclosures, when they went to take a cat nap in their dens, you were out of luck if you wanted to see them. And because cats of all sizes just love to sleep, that pretty well meant that you weren't going to see them. Now at least we can see them sleeping.

Here is one of the cats in the new exhibit at Elephant Odyssey sleeping in its den; not good clarity because of the glare on the glass, but you can see how much more of an experience the new exhibit will be.

Isn't it amazing how they can sleep in just any position.  Not to mention on just about anything.

That hammock looks pretty comfy -- don't think he is being abused in any way --
