Foreclousures in Mecklenburg County, NC, home of most of the Charlotte market, jumped 82% in May 2009 as compared to May 2008. This represents the third month above 1000 filings. Continued unemployment seems to be contributing to the trend as the area is impacted by layoffs.
Other NC counties also posted big increases including Brunswick, Ashe, Avery, and Clay.
