We are improving the road in Haymarket & Gainesville, VA - Residents Please Be aware of the Lane Changes and detours. June 9-10, 2009 – Route 29 NORTH TRAFFIC DETOURED June 9th and 10th 2009, 5:00 am to 3:30 pm, Route 29 North traffic will crossover the median, prior to I-66 overhead bridge, onto the Route 29 southbound lanes. Traffic on I-66 East wanting to use exit 43B (Rte 29 northbound exit, this exit will be closed) will be detoured onto existing 43A (exit for southbound Rte 29). The traffic will then have to make a U turn onto Rte 29 North prior to Route 55. Route 29 SOUTH TRAFFIC TO BE DETOURED The Route 29 South lanes will be used for Route 29 North traffic these two days. This will be done by having the Route 29 North traffic crossover the median, prior to I-66 overhead bridge, onto the Route 29 southbound lanes. Traffic will proceed on these lanes until just past I-66 overhead and cross back over the median to the original Route 29 North lanes near Larapinta Court. Route 29 South and Heritage Hunt traffic will have to use the on ramp across from Heathcote Boulevard at Route 29. The traffic from Heritage Hunt will go straight through the intersection and use the 66W ramp. Rte 29 south traffic will have to turn left at Heathcote/Rte 29 intersection onto the 66W ramp. Traffic will then make a left lane change on top of the ramp to be able to proceed using the Route 29 South off ramp (see attached detour plan). For traffic heading to I-66 EAST there are three main options: Option 1: Use Route 29 Southbound Detour and make a U-turn at the center median crossing on Route 29 to go back to Route 29 North and then onto I-66 East. Option 2: Use University Boulevard bridge to go right onto Wellington Road, right onto Linton Hall Road, right onto Route 29 North and then onto I-66 East. Option 3: Use University Boulevard bridge to go left onto Wellington Road, left onto Balls Ford Road, left onto Route 234 Bypass and then onto I-66 East.
