The hype is about over tomorrow morning lines will be forming at Sprint stores nationwide to get the Palm Pre, yes I will be there.  Even with all my connections I could not get one for personal use.  Yesterday Walter Mossberg of the Wall Street journal penned a great article comparing the new Palm Pre to the i-Phone.  He rated the Pre higher then the i-Phone as far as the phone and hardware but lacking the number of apps compared to the i-Phone.  According to Mossberg Palm plans to add apps quickly with the focus on more business apps.

Since the late 90's when I first became involved with Palm I believe the power of the devices has been business.  Even today I will stack my 3 year old Treo up against any of the other 16 smartphones I have when it comes to handling day to day business.  NO I can't use my Treo as a level or identify what song is playing.  But I can handle the entire Microsoft Bundle of Outlook, Word, Excel and yes PowerPoint. The list goes on as far as what I am getting out of my smartphone.

Tomorrow morning I start my new journey with the Pre.  I will not be switching over to the Pre for awhile until I am sure it can handle my needs.  I will keep you undated and be very critical to see if it stacks up.  I am not blinded by loyalty to Palm.  If it does what I think it will do I'll let you know, if it falls short I will also tell you.

Enjoyed standing in line with you this morning....even though you were in Ocala and I was in Baltimore. Glad we both got the Pre. Just need some time to use it.

Keep us posted on this blog about the new phone.  Will it work with our CARMLS?

I need to find out what CARMLS has available for MLS, not sure what Supra is going to do yet.

Dick,

Regarding eKEY on the Pre, the way the Software Development Kit is currently set up, we do not have the necessary access to the Bluetooth in the phone.  Thus, we are not currently able to develop eKEY for it.  If we had the Bluetooth access, we would be able to use our current eKEY Fob as part of the solution.  If we are given the necessary access at some point we will take a look at it again.

I was told by my Board that since Palm has worked with Supra in the past, they thought Palm would give Supra access.  That was encouraging and one of the reasons I went ahead and purchased a Palm Pre. Now I am concerned that Palm won't give Supra access to the information to make a fob. This whole thing with phones & lockboxes is frustrating.
