Calling All Musicians!

By
Services for Real Estate Pros with Greenwood King Properties

Okay, I'm having a hard time believing that, out of 32,105 members (as of this posting) on Active Rain, there are only 9 musicians out there. If you didn't know, there is a musicians group on AR at http://activerain.com/groups/music.

You play an instrument? In a band? Marched in a drum and bugle corps or marching band? In a symphony, concert band or any kind of instrumental ensemble? Any vocalists out there? (I can't be the only singer in this forum, can I?) Song writers? Producers? Own a club? Maybe you just mess around with music for the fun of it? Well? What are you waiting for? Get over there and let's find all that undiscovered talent that I know is out there!

Have played keyboards, piano, and organ since age 5, took for 9 years, and taught for 15 years. I played clarinet in high school but they wouldn't let me play like benny goodman so I quit!!! I have song also in choir, school and church all my life. I been the organist and pianist for 15 years in church and have led worship etc. I miss it!! Our church disolved here in Colorado so we are still looking, but I found someone looking for a piantist that is wanting to form a gospel band so we will see what happens, I am a big gather fan also, Brain Duncan, Cathedral, etc..., etc... the list would go on and on and on. Our high school won state for years, I am orginally from Texas, and my heart is still there. I just discovered youtube, so that is amazing. There are keyboard artist that will show you licks. COOL!!  I will look into the anything goes and the lounge. See you there.

Man, piano. One instrument I wish I would've learned. I'm making sure my kids have that option. Good luck on getting that band together. It's always an adventure. From where in Texas? My wife grew up in Plano. We lived there for a couple years as well.

No worries Randy you are not the only vocalist out there. I sing with 1 community choir, 1 invitation only choir and 1 womens small ensemble (8 members). I love to sing and even though I work in escrow my first passion is music, always has been always will be. So hang in there... they will come out of the wood work. By the way I have performed with Video Games Live which is an awesome way to show the young people of today how classical music is in their video games. If you want the link to VGL's website email me and I will send it to you.

OK..in my former life I was a music professor..taught in UNC Chapel Hill (flute), and at various colleges in the NYC metropolitan area..Also did folk singing for many years..

Music is still my first love..On my way to listing appointments I listen to the Bach Brandenberg Concerto #2 to help me focus..

Once music is in your soul it is there forever.

I love Bach, Susan! Copland and Gershwin head the top of my list as well.

Thanks for dropping by, Karen.

OK - I'll bite on this.....  I was a classically trained pianist for 15 years and competed at the national level, have sung all my life and about  a year ago, I left my blues/R&B/R&R band after 6 years as lead singer.  Love to perform and miss it!  I guess part of me just had to grow up!

I play...my voice!

I play "at" the piano usually chording when I'm writing a song. I love singing jazz, blues, r&b, soul and more. I've sung live at weddings and other social events. I actually have been requested to sing at an 40th anniversary (latin jazz style) event for early November later this year. I've always been asked why I don't do this as a real career and my answer is simply (like so many others): life got in the way.

I'm a member of ASCAP as a songwriter and music publisher. I've been writing songs since I was 12, however, I started writing commercial "radio-ready" songs in my early 20's. Since I don't play an instrument other than my voice, I've worked mainly with collaborators. My collaborators have nicknamed me, "the lyricist", because I breathe lyrics.  What I mean is that, if the music is 'kickin', then the words must match! I can't stand great music with cheap and cheesy lyrics (unless it was done intentionally like parody). I also write melodies and sing them acapella into a recorder. Right now, my son does fantastic music production and we are supposed to be updating some songs as well as completing others. My goal is to produce an indie CD with songs that I have written fully or co-written that have simply piled up in my music files. I will sing a number of songs as well as other professional or gifted youthful singers, since my son says most things my voice touches turns into jazz! I have some r&b ballads, pop and even a couple of country songs (for another CD) that are suitable for other voices.  Now... if only my son could stop for a minute...and help his mother out with this project...isn't it just like that with family? After it is finally finished, we plan to sell the CD or individuals songs online on indie download site(s). Self-publishing...gotta love it!

By the way, recently I wrote a jazzy theme song for the City of Springfield, MA -since I believe that every great city needs a great theme song.  As soon as it is finished production-wise, I will be playing it on my real estate website. I will also be sending copies to my clients along with a couple of other tunes I wrote and sing.

I hope someone responds to this post because I haven't seen any postings since November!

Ciao for Now,

Berni
