It is a fact and we can not deny it, we need our computers and PCs to survive and keep up in our society. I woke up this morning, got the kids to school, poured myself a cup of coffee, and turned on my laptop. As I logged into my desktop, something did not look right. The background that I had set up for my desktop was different and all of my short-cut icons (e.g. Active Rain) were gone!!!!!! Noooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooo what on earth is going on? I tried to open up my document folder and guess what? It was completely empty!!!!
All files and information that I had saved on my laptop had been erased, gone, what I was looking at was a brand new laptop. I could feel my heartbeat rise and blood rushing to my head. That's it, my life is over!!!! I called my Husband, an Electronic Engineer, no answer, he was in a meeting. I consider myself computer savvy, but I leave all the computer operating questions to my husband. But now I was desperate, most of my business was in this stupid thin box and I needed it NOW. So I decided to give it a try. What if I turned this stupid machine off, gave it 5 minutes, and then turned it back on again? Guess what? After five minutes I logged into my laptop everything was there. All the files, documents, precious pictures, they are all here. Is it amazing how dependent we have become to these man made devices? Note to self: Back Up All Files.

Oh My Gosh! I am so glad it had that outcome. I was also terrified reading your post. My whole world would end if I lost everything on my laptop. I also need to start backing up my files every day. I never remember to do that.

Whew! You must have been just sick when you thought everything was gone. I would totally freak out. It is a good reminder to back everything up, though. I am horrible about that.
