There are few islands in Florida which can compare to Sanibel. These of you who have visited the well known barrier island did not forget the 15 miles of pristine beaches, and among others these beauties:
The J.N. “Ding” Darling National Wildlife Refuge J.N."Ding" Darling, and the
Sanibel-Captiva Conservation Foundation SCCF
Two third of this magnificent island is protected so its not a surprise that Sanibel’s residents do not want to embrace the XXIst century like other areas of South West Florida and run their own affairs as a separate identity and community. Don’t be fooled by the idyllic and romantic physical aspect of the island. It is very modern but it is above all a “green” advocate. Not to mention great shelling, fishing, or using the over 4 miles and a half of trails along 1800 preserved acres.
The residents of this island will do anything possible to preserve its natural habitat and will not stand for anything that disturbs it. Objectively, there have been some draw back to so much attention. ( continuing below the picture of the Old Post Office)
There are over 200 different bird species in Sanibel. Above an Ibis and a Pelican.
For these of you who want something else besides life around the beaches or boating, you will also enjoy some of the more artistic activities, whether you prefer the visual arts, dancing ,the theater or a good jazz concert at the Big Arts. You have the choice.Want some history and learn about Sanibel past? You may also get a kick out of the Sanibel Historical Museum and Village Sanibel Museum
and tour some of well conserved private and public buildings in the center of the Sanibel Village.

As it became one of the most renowned islands in the USA, the days when it was a small community when a fisherman could afford to live there are gone. It is still a rather small community but beauty
and quality of life comes with a price. Luckily, it is, these days, much more affordable and there are some great opportunities in Sanibel Real Estate.
Gone are the days when one could not find a modest home for under $600,000. These days you may even find attractive island homes in the mid to high $200,000 and at times below if you move fast enough.
Here is a link to 3 homes in Sanibel Sabinel Homes under $340K at very salivating prices for such an area. As of today there were some 17 single homes under $450,000, a few in the high $200’s and a few more in the $300’s. Contact me for their present status and complete list.
Following is a link for upscale homes smack on the Gulf Of Mexico. These are the creme de la creme of Sanibel
