Gay,
My husband and I had this VERY view (maybe not quite as close up) when we lived in Sun Meadows right there before Reber Ranch. When we moved in I asked him, "do you think we'll ever take this view for granted" and he said "no."
Of course we did. There were days when it would literally take our breath away w/ the brilliant sunsets and of course on clear days there was always a mention of the "mountain being out".
But it's only since we've moved and don't have the view out our front window daily that I realize how lucky we were.
It's truly an amazing sight to behold!
Debe, Jim & Maria -- we truly are blessed with awesome views here in the Puget Sound area. I've only traveled lightly in other areas of the US, but I know that every region has its own breathtaking vistas too!
Colleen: We could've been neighbors! Isn't it amazing how you can go just around a corner and Mt. Rainier is right there "in your face!" It truly is gorgeous when "the mountain is out!"
Gabrielle,
That's quite a view from your street. I can almost feel the cool air from the snow. :)
Steve
Steve: It truly is spectacular, isn't it! During my lifetime of living just under it's shadow (I'm a native Seattle-ite!), I can honestly say, though, that it sure has changed. When I was a kid it was very rare to see bare patches at any time of the year. It was always just a massive white glacier of a mountain. It sure says something about our changing weather patterns, doesn't it!?
I took your picture to Photoshop and increased it in size substantially, and here is what I found in the picture:
- Seven skiers
- Three campers
- Five snowmobilers
- Nineteen deer
- One bear
- And one yo-yo. The yo-yo, of course, is me.
Nice picture!
Russel: HOW far did you say you zoomed in??? lol ...
Monique: Unfortunately, we don't see it every day and certainly not this clear. But when the mountain's out, the mountain's OUT! (does anyone else ever refer to their mountains in quite this way? ... must be a Seattle-ish thing)
