Developing friendships over time whether you meet the people from your business, social circles, community, sports, church, or volunteering it is fun to watch how they shake out. You've heard the categories they fall into, depending on the duration they "stick" in your life, ... reason, season, or lifetime. But one thing I noted about the "true" friends however long they stick around is

When Watching Your Back Comes Natural.

These are the people that are not afraid to tell you what you need to know. You have cheese on your face. You are acting stupid or childish. Someone sent you a spam comment on your blog. Your shirt tail is out or your stocking has a run in it. Thank God for these people who "care." They also "defend" you from outside attacks just like family.

Make note of these "got your back covered" people in your life. It is just natural for them and you are lucky they are there for you.

Gary - very wise as usual. There are moments we wish we had such people to watch our backs. Save us from lot of confusion! Great graphics!

Isn't that the truth! Love the raccoon picture, too. Everyone I know comes through more than I could ever hope for and I am certainly appreciative. It would be terrible for someone who is supposed to care about you not come through with flying colors, that would be a let down, however, it would be a good opportunity to put the shoe on the other foot and be the supporter to that person.

I've enjoyed all your blogs-keep on blogging...

Hello my friend-It is wonderful and comforting when you have those people in your life that you can count on. They are true blessings from God. I have some of those. <SMILE>

Those who have your back ARE your REAL friends! It is interesting to think how many come into and out of our lives and back in again. Times and people change but, our real friends DO have our backs!

Gary, I've got your back, too. I had an occasion recently when someone stepped up and took my back - made me realize that I had a friend that I didn't even know about!

Gary, that photo is great, LOL. And of course it is so true, it is wonderful to have someone watching your back, and very important to watch their backs BACK!

Gary, I have a lender/friend who watches my back but then I watch hers also (in business and in life).

It's a rare gift indeed to know you can trust another implicitly. Lately my faith in many friendships has been tested. I choose to believe the best, unfortunately some haven't proven worth of that faith. But it's all good...live and learn right?

I always get so surprised (and grateful!) to find people right behind me, just when I needed them...that monkey, though, is another story! You're the best, Gary!

Gary...and to find these kinds of people can be rare, depending on the type of person YOU are!

I can count on one had the people I call friends that I would put in this category.

Hi Gary, I would equate these people as one of the valuable friends possible in life. And the best way to get a friend like is to BE a friend like that. Love the photo. Actually visualized what that might be like to have taken that photo. The best part of learning over how to take photos is visualizing the possibilities and then seizing the opportunity by being prepared.

Gary - I just adore ring tailed lemurs and the way they stick together as a family. This is the way it should be not only with family, but friends and colleagues too. Rest assured, if I see cheese on your face, I will let you know and not publicly, but in a personal email.

Gary... I have always called it CYA! When I worked in Correction i always looked over my shoulder, now I just try to keep a knife out of my back!

"Got your back covered friends" are rare. I used to think that cliche about counting them on two hands was stretched; not so much anymore.

I believe I'm very blessed when it comes to these kinds of friends....I definitely have two and I treasure them dearly.

There is nothing in this world like a true friend. They are willing to tell you what you don't want to know yet need to, and they will always be there.

Gary, these are few and far between, but, when you got them...don't let them go.

Gary, True friends are people who have shared a multitude of experiences with you and still consider themselves " a friend". They are indeed priceless and deserve to be cherished!

I'm sure we could all use a few more friends like these in our lives......they are special.

I love surrounding myself with "got my back covered" people who are honest and tell me what they think. I'm like that myself and appreciate the trait in others.
