ActiveRain Members - HGTV’s "House Hunters" Is Now Casting and Looking for YOU!

HGTV’s hit TV series, House Hunters, is looking for Homebuyers and Real Estate Agents who want to appear on the show!  ActiveRain and HGTV are working together in an effort to find qualified candidates who may be interested in sharing their "House Hunting" journey on National Television.

This could be a huge opportunity, and a lot of fun for some of our members and their clients.

House Hunters follows buyers and their agents on the hunt
as they find just the right house for them—and every story is different.  If you’re an energetic and outgoing Real Estate Agent currently working with a Homebuyer, we'd love to hear from you.

Are you in Pennsylvania, New Jersey, Missouri, Minnesota, Georgia or Colorado?

House Hunters is currently looking for Homebuyers who are:

Buying within a 90 min. drive of downtown Philadelphia, Denver, Atlanta, Minneapolis/St. Paul and St. Louis

Closing in the next 1-2 months, this includes buyers who are actively bidding on a home or newly under contract

Fun, enthusiastic, and have a great story to tell

If you're interested, let me know and I'll forward your information to their Associate Producer.  If you'd rather, you can also apply directly at HouseHunters@HighNoonEntertainment.com.  Thanks for helping us find some members and clients for their show, we're excited about assisting them with this endeavor.

House Hunters airs weeknights at 9/8c on HGTV and is produced by High Noon Entertainment.  To learn more about the show visit HGTV.com/HouseHunters.  We appreciate your support with this Casting Quest.

Darn, I would love to do this. If they ever want to do one on Baby Boomers looking to relocate at retirement, do I ever have some great client candidates that would be perfect for an HGTV segment. Coastal Delaware is a top pick and one of the most tax friendly areas for Boomers to retire!

Brad - We were contacted by TLC for the moving up show and we thought we were going to be on it except for our buyers and sellers were a bit shy I guess and didn't agree to it. It's too bad because they would have gotten money from it as well as moving expenses. These shows casting for agents are great. You can't beat that kind of publicity! But you do have to have customers that want to go along with it as well. Thanks for the tip. Going to look at some of our other customers for this one as well. Maybe one day you'll be seeing me and Lisa on TV. How cool would that be?

I'm wondering - for one agent to raise a red flag - Donna, #8, said

"Yeah, they contacted me a couple of months ago. Boy was I shocked to find out how the show is really run.  No wonder they only look at 1 house a day."

Have you guys at ActiveRain looked into the show's credentials and background to see exactly how they operate? While it sounds like a good way to increase publicity for the participating agent(s), there may be problems down the road that could be avoided by being a little more scrutinizing...

Roland - thanks for passing this onto Joslyn in PA.

Bryant - Blogging Bertha?  Don't laugh, if you're showing property "With Her" it may be the best show ever!  It certainly wouldn't hurt to visit the idea, all they could say is no.  But then what if.......

Lanre - thanks, I appreciate you helping to spread the word, we really want to help them out on this one, and I know with your help we can.

Mark - be sure to let us know if there's any interest after your staff meeting tomorrow.

Hey Jeff - we do have some terrific folks in those areas, the question is whether they are working with some clients right now that meet HGTV's needs.  I'm sure positive we'll come up with at least a few that will be great candidates for the show.  If you think of someone in particular, let me know, I'd be happy to contact them as I'm sure there'll be thousands of members who will never see this post.  Thanks.   :-)

I wish they'd show small towns and "ordinary" buyers - Johnson City TN could stand in for a lot of the great little towns and wonderful people who are looking for their dreams on a smaller scale.   I always have interesting buyers who have neat stories, and we have a wonderful time on our search.   I shouldn't admit it, but I enjoy this so much that I'd probaby do it without pay.   For stories about some of my great buyers, see "Rest of the Story" on www.TNTriCitiesHomes.com.

Hey Brad,

Seems to me that the depressed housing market of California is starting to turn around so perhaps you might consider showing what great opportunities there are for first time buyers in the Sacramento valley. Granted we're not the worst in the nation like Las Vegas but we didn't come out unscathed either. Our numbers show a significant drop from the heyday of Aug 2005 opportunties abound! Hi Brad - I watch House Hunters often and enjoy it.  I have recommended it to some prospects to let them know what the hunt is like and to let them discover from seeing others' experiences that their list of "must haves" may not be available all in the same house at their pricepoint.

I am a real fan of HGV and have wanted to participate in a couple of their shows, but most of their shows from California are about the Los Angeles area and not the Sacramento area.  Maybe someday.

HMMM - 90 minutes outside St. Louis in any direction would be so rural you couldn't see more than one or two houses a day anyway!  Unfortunately I have had to eliminate HGTV from my list of channels that I watch (how many $800,000 fixer-uppers are there?,SERIOUSLY???)  and I REFUSE to work wth buyers who watch.  They create such unrealistic expectations at both the buyer and seller end.  Good luck to those who are selected.

Brad:

I would love to be your Jersey Realtor!

I am located in central NJ, a very unique area that is situated 1 hour from downtown Philadelphia and 40 minutes from Manhattan.  This area of New Jersey is ideal for commuters who work in NYC or towns like Princenton. Not to mention, there are quite a few beaches within 30 minutes.

Please feel free to send my info along to the producer, as I am doing the same. Thanks Brad!

Brad - I came within a whisker of being on the show a few years ago, but the clients didn't make the cut, and the producer I was working with from "House Hunters" got pregnant and never returned to work.  If you hear about any opportunities here in the general Austin area, I would love to be on the show!

I was an entertainer in Las Vegas for 30 years before becoming a Realtor in the Dallas area four years ago. See some of my TV work at www.MySpace.com/DinoDangerPerelli or my Realtor site at www.BestLakeInTexas.com I would love to work on this show (or one like it!)

House Hunters is one of my favorite shows - I love to see what the buyers choose and the changes they made to the house after a few months..... Always make me happy to see the buyers love their new home!

I LOVE House Hunters!  Before becoming a Realtor, I would watch and drool!

If they are ever in New York or Connecticut, I would to try to be on the show.  My hometown of New Fairfield, CT was already on - what fun it was to watch as they showed the town and Candlewood Lake.

Hi Brad,

Thanks so much for giving us all the heads up! Thanks too for keeping up with all the comments...You do a GREAT job with that.

I'd love the opportunity to interview with the HGTV folks! I'm located in Colorado Springs and Monument, Colorado (about 45 to 60 minutes away from downtown Denver). I've got several clients from which to choose (depending on time frame) and think several of them would be thrilled as well.

Would a "military" segment work? I've got 5 current buyers Army, Air Force and Navy...I know, I know...not much water in Colorado Springs, but we DO have a few Naval folks here). there are more military buyers coming too...

Thanks a million for helping to put this together!

Hey Brad, I'm one of the ones -- way out of the area but would love to House Hunt with you all. I mean really wouldn't you like to shoot my folks shopping around in sunny Southern California (Temecula to be exact). I have some experience to back me up too - I worked as a TV reporter for years. I do have a Realtor buddy named Rudy in Allentown, PA -- just outside Philly. I'll fill him in. Best of Luck. Can't wait to see the episode!!!

Brad, I would love to do the next South Florida espisode!  I have lots of buyers that know now is the best time to buy a home or investment property.

I did a spot on Hoy Miami and it was great exposure for my seller, and I got to practice Spanish.  The broadcasts are excellent exposure for the Realtor and their company.  Count me in.

I love the consumer educational value of this program-it moves them through the elimination decision making process.  If they are ever looking in the Palos Verdes, CA area send them my way.  It might be fun to dust off my in-front-of-the-camera experience from my commercial making days of years past.

Hi Brad,

Baltimore is within the distance! I have 2 buyers who will close shortly. One is a young couple to be married in Oct. who are in the midst of purchasing their first home - a beautiful 1930s home that needs a little bit of work. This will close at the end of June. They love these shows!

The other buyer is a young single man looking for a townhouse fixer upper in the city. Most likely he will go through the 203K loan process to make the house great looking. We haven't found the perfect house, yet, but soon will - I hope!

My first temptation is to make jokes about maybe them not using the beautiful people for this show.  Try over weight Realtors and someone looking at trailer parks.  But on a practical level I hope this brings a lot of attention to Active Rain.  How much promotion will Active Rain nail down on this?

10:42am • #141

I really think that House Hunters is an awesome show!!!   I think that you should do a special in the Northwoods!   Grand Rapids, Minnesota!!  Itasca County is a paradise for pristine lakes, majestic white and red pine forests, trophy fishing, phenominal camping, snowmobiling and hiking, all while enjoying the breathtaking views!!!   Our area has an intriguing history about the logging and mining era, the mighty Mississippi River, not to mention outstanding wild blueberries, morel mushrooms, and some of the State's best grouse hunting!!!

I am a native of Grand Rapids and love it up here, so it easy for me to sell our area to buyers!!  There's nothing better than traveling down a country road, winding through the tall towering pines to seek out a sale on a beautiful lakeplace!

When you are ready to experience the beauty of our area and see how "We sell 'em Up North", I am here to give you the guided tour!!!

See you soon!!!    :-)

I have several first time buyers (couples) right now that are looking to live within 15-20 minutes near St. Paul/Minneapolis Minnesota. I can think of one couple off hand that would be great for the show. Would love the opportunity, please pass on my name. Hi, I have all sorts of fun buyers right now.  I have some who are on their 15th offer at the moment.  We are waiting for a response.  First time home-buyers and they keep getting beat out on their offers.  Even when they offer 20% over asking in some situations.  Offer number 13 actually went under cotnract, then he was laid off and now he has his job back, so we are back to it.  It has been a struggle to say the least.  I have some other buyers also, with fewer problems, but still always an adventure these days.

Brad-

Somebody told me u where looking for some people in Pittsburgh, Pa. I just sold a house yesterday to the new varsity football coach coming in with his loving wife and 5 children ages aprox. 4th grade to Jr. High School. They have 3 boys & 2 girls. They are very fun & energetic family relocating in from Erie, Pa. We will be closing on their beautiful new home on July 15th. Let me know if you are interested in interviewing us for an upcoming show. The town the family bought in is Cranberry Township, Pa. It's about 20-25 miles north west of Pittsburgh and 30 minutes to the Ohio Border. Westington House has just made Cranberry Township their new corporate headquarters and is bringing in many new jobs to the area.

This is great!  I, and my daughters, LOVE to watch HGTV and these shows!  We will definitely watch; I assume we will be notified somehow when the shows will air?

Philly, huh?  Why is it always Philly (or Pittsburgh)???  You never, ever, hear much about our area in SouthCentral PA.  We have so much to offer here, so I don't understand this...  York -  the first Capitol of the United States!  Harrisburg - the Capitol of PA.  Lancaster - home of the Amish, and OUTLETS! OUTLETS! OUTLETS!  and Hershey is... well - HERSHEY!!  This whole area is just gorgeous!  We have the Susquehanna River (hence the nickname "The Susquehanna Valley").  Our history is very rich... maybe one day someone will take notice and pay some attention to our little part of the world.  We have normal people, with normal jobs, normal homes, conservative values (for the most part).  It's a great place to be!!
