Optimizing your site is worthless without content

Some of you will be confused by this post because if you have done any sort of website optimization lately you have surely heard about how crucial optimization is for your business. But I'm here to tell you that optimization is worthless if your content does not attract clients. It is one thing to rank really high on Google and to get a prospect to click and enter your site but if you don't provide them with what they are seeking (good content) they will promptly exit your site (bounce out). Good content is difficult to describe and define in simple terms. Generally good content is giving your visitors whatever they're seeking in a clean and simple fashion without an overload of text or images. To illustrate let's compare Google to Yahoo. Google is simple, clean and to the point. If you need to search for something, they give it to you in a clean and simple fashion. On the other hand Yahoo is clogged with all kinds of great information but if you're just looking to search, it can get in the way. The way to figure out what is good content for you, speak to your existing clients and ask them what they would like to see in your site. Usually this is a great indication for what will work for you. Most importantly, make it easy for your site visitors to contact you regarding the information posted on your site. I can't tell you how many times I see great sites with great content without a way for the client to contact you for more information. Those are leads you are leaving on the table. If you have any questions whether your specific site is useful and contains good content post a comment with the URL and I will try to give you a fair assessment of your content quality.

I agree that content is everything! A thousand people can visit your website but none of them will fill out a contact form if the content isn't appealing to them. :(

I'm still working on my website...it's an everyday event. It's producing results for me but anything I can do to make it better, well, I'm doing it.

For Real Estate websites I've found that IDX is the best form of content you can give people. IDX is listings - all the listings in your MLS! I try to point people to my IDX search which I have built to be clean simple and straight to the point. I get an average of about 9 minutes per visit =o

I do use some flash just to keep it interesting but for the most part there are no distractions from what people are looking for.

110% true.  You only a one chance to make a 'good' impression.

Great advice. Everyone gets caught up in SEO because it's such a flashy subject. The problem is, no one is thinking about how they are going to convert the visitor into a lead. I always suggest that my clients map out "funnels". In other words, what is the path that you want the visitor to take to convert them into a lead.

Content is king. People read it all and move around from page to page and they actually listen to what you write.

Ricardo

Great Site Layout, Friendly Colors. Easy for people to get prequalified. I really like your site. I would maybe change your page title to "Los Angeles Loan Officer - Ricardo Bueno" so that it can be optimized for the keyword most people would search for.

Anne

I think it would be a good idea to switch to a smoother and cleaner font. I would also switch your contact information closer to the top of the page so as soon as your site comes up your contact info is viewable without scrolling. As far as optimization is concerned it seems like you're on the right track. Since your layout is 100% of the screen, I would suggest putting some of your links on the right hand side to minimize scrolling.

I hope this helps
