I lived in city (Seattle) back in the late 70's - early 80's. I was at Cornish College of the Arts (then known as Cornish Institute). I was also involved with Soundwork Studio at And/OR, a public access electronic music studio and did a couple of experimental radio shows on KRAB FM.
I lived just off Broadway, a few blocks west on Bellevue Ave E. I had such a blast during that time. I could get everywhere on the hill by foot. Why move your car, you'd lose your parking spot!
There's a certain excitement about living in the city that you don't get in the burbs. You feel like you're in the hub of life, the center of the hive. I love the wonderful mix of people. One dominant group at that time were the participants of the Gothic Period. A lot of black, leather, tall boots, dark makeup, chain accesories, and some pretty serious large spiked hair... With several colleges close at hand we had our share of starving students (like me), intellectuals, really cheap coffee places, musicians, artists, writers, poets, philosophers, actors, dancers, sculptures, performance artists, ad infinitum.
It was like a living kaleidoscope... Life was just so rich (and without money!)...
Title Companies are the keepers of such amazing real estate related data! I like to take a look at my old neighborhoods and see what's going on. This is a study looking at 1+ bedroom condominium sales over the last 6 months. Capitol Hill and surrounding neighborhoods in zip code 98102 are only a couple of minutes to downtown Seattle. They're like a cluster of villages around their own unique business districts, each with their own inner-city neighborhood bursting with activity and many with great views.
