No, sorry, not this time.  Although I CANwrite about Feng Shui Sex, I'll leave that to a later blog.  I was driving home today after a long meeting and just wanted to get home, turn on some mindless TV and relax.  I have HBO On Demand and they were re-running episodes of Sex in the City, one of their terrific series.

Yes, I know---the show was at times outrageous and sometimes completely "out of line."  But it gave us many messages as well.  If you watched it, you'll know what I'm talking about.  It talked about four ladies passion for New York City.  It's no secret that I absolutely LOVE New York City and spend as much time there as possible.  I don't often go with an agenda, I let the day take me where I'm supposed to be.  And seem to always run into something or someone or have some experience I wouldn't have had if I'd had definitive plans.

More then that, it is about the true meaning of Friendship.  Over the course of my time on ActiveRain, I have been fortunate enough to connect with some absolutely wonderful people I may not have otherwise met.  They are not all from New York, but still we connected from this site.  I consider them "Friends" and I don't use the word lightly!  They are wonderful to talk to, inspire you, help you and don't ask anything from you other then that you be yourself.  I consider that a blessing and I know many other people from Activerain have experienced the same thing.

Those four women accept each-other for who and what they are, not who they'd like them to be.  They don't have to fit into a mold to please someone else and all the little "quirks" we all have are accepted---it might even be one of the reasons they are liked so much.  They don't have to strive for perfection and while many of us LIKE to be a "perfectionist," it's difficult to be on call for that all the time.

Taking it a step further is the relationships they all find themselves in.  What to accept, what they can deal with, what they need to let go from their lives.  During the last years I have let go of people that are negative all the time; I may love and care about them but it brings me down.  It's been a difficult journey to do that but in order for YOU to have the best energy, what other choices do you have?

I am finally getting to the REASON of this blog (It DOES have one!) My all time favorite episode:  Carrie is going to dress as a model in a fashion show and she's nervous of participating and walking down the runway in front of ALL THOSE PEOPLE.  She's in the midst of people like Heidi Klum and other fashion models and as she starts her walk down, she falls.  Right there, in front of everyone.  When I initially saw the show I think I gasped out loud....I would have gotten up (eventually) and slunk off the runway with my head down.  She didn't and this was a powerful lesson for me---she picked herself back up, walked down the runway with a smile on her face (and one shoe) and turned her failure into a success.  The words at the end of the show said something like "in life, you just have to pick yourself back up every time you fall."  Better words were never spoken.  I fall down, too, and remember that show and pick myself right back up to continue on.

It's a sign of strength, courage and determination which is something that many people on Activerain are full of!  For a Feng Shui blog on Sex, Sheron, you want that one?  :)

One of my favorite quotes is "Success is not in never failing, but in rising every time you fail".

Hi Carole!

First of all, I absolutely loved that show and remember that 'fashion show' episode well!  There were many lessons to be learned from that show, but I think the one that I loved best was the transformation of Charlotte from the uptight, snobbish, 'debutante' to the woman who fell in love with "Harry" the Jewish, nebbish, lawyer!  She lost all pretentiousness when she fell in love with him!

As for FRIENDSHIP, yes - Active Rain is a wonderful place to meet and connect to others who share your passions and your visions!  It's a beautiful thing!  And I saved the best blog on which to comment for my last!

This one is a hard one for me

'Taking it a step further is the relationships they all find themselves in.  What to accept, what they can deal with, what they need to let go from their lives.  During the last years I have let go of people that are negative all the time; I may love and care about them but it brings me down.  It's been a difficult journey to do that but in order for YOU to have the best energy, what other choices do you have?'

For me, it's my mom! Our relationship is strained to say the least.

Just like Miss USA in the Miss Universe pageant - after falling  on her behinder she got up and carried on with grace and dignity even while the crowd was booing and jeering her - most likely because she was from the USA.

Of Fly Catchers and hidden lakes.

Of sleeping lizards and morning dew.

It is of birdsong and misty dawns

and fleeced clouds floating in a still pool.

The waters ripple awake in the gathering morn.

The first water birds head out for the far shore.
