Being a Realtor®

     There are several things I love about being in the real estate profession. Each profession has its positives and negatives. Fortunately I have been blessed to be involved in an industry with very few negatives.  We have a great National andLocal Associations that really strives to make sure their associates are upstanding moral individuals that truly look out for the general public while dealing with real estate. Some times scum seeps through the cracks but over all we are very serious about protecting the consumer. Could you imagine a country without NAR? How many people would be taken advantage of with out us? How scary would buying a home be with out Realtors®? How rampent would fraud be?

      Freedom is another perk of this job. If I want to go to one of my child's soccer games tonight I can do it. If I want to take off tomorrow and go play golf I can. I won't but I could. This is true in most self employment situations. It really gives me the freedom to watch my children grow and be a part of their lives.

      Pride is very evident in this industry. Most of us strive to be the very best we can be in our communities and our industry. We are people with morals. We stand up for what we think is right. We fight against the things we think are wrong. We fight those people who ruin or standing in the community. It is unfortunate that a few make the public image of us like that of used car salesmen. We are so much more than sales people. We go through extensive training. We know our contracts and real estate law inside and out.

      Education is another reason that I am proud to be a Realtor®. We continue our education constantly. Some of us even go beyond that required of us. We go out and get all those funny little letters after our name. Those aren't easy to get they take lots of work and time to get. Those letters mean that we have studied in that particular discipline.

     Opportunity is abundant in the real estate industry. If you go out and really work at your business you can excel. It's not easy and it means late nights and early mornings sometimes but if you put in the time you can truly excel. No other industry provides the opportunities to be self employed and gives you the knowledge to go out and make it the way we do.  I have seen it with my own eyes. Friends are out there to be made. I have made a lot of friends in my few years in this industry. I don't have clients or contacts I have friends. Every person I have worked with to help find a house since I opened my business I can honestly say are my friends. I really enjoy meeting new folks and I never meet a stranger. I have been blessed by God to have the ability to make people feel comfortable around me. I have also met some great people here on active rain as well.
