Almost 2000 years ago the people were given a choice by the powers to be...They could have chosen Jesus...or they could have chosen a notorious prisoner, robber, and scoundrel to be set free...

They chose the scoundrel, Barabbas...

People were given the power by God over life and death...The Author of Life itself was condemned by the people to die a horrendous death...

Some things never change!

The people are still making the wrong choices...listening to man instead of God...

That choice of Barabbas over Jesus ultimately led to the salvation of all mankind for those who were ready to accept it...

I wonder where the People's Choice will lead us this time...???

And take note, Fran, that the people's choice was influenced by the "leaders" of the day. You're right, things haven't changed at all. Sad. Just another reason for us to stay on our knees!

William,

But I thought in a Republic like ours, the leaders were to be influenced by the people...!!! I think we are victims of citizen apathy and indifference...!!! We have put the cart before the horse...!!! Thanks,   Fran

Fran - when the constitution was drafted, it was a very close and hard fought decision to have representatives directly elected, and to even allow a popular vote for presidential electors. The founders were very concerned that the "common" people would not be well versed on the candidates and the issues and would be unable to make an informed vote. It very nearly came to only the propertied, those with something to risk, would be able to chose in the election process. We are now living with the decisions of the framers from 222 years ago, for better or for worse.

I saw Mikes comment and you know it would be bad if they changed it to only homeowners or landowners. When folks own welfare become the majority then we will be a total welfare state.

It is said what we have become in just the last six months as well as what congress has done for the last sixteen years.

I'm not sure the new messiah is here to set us free or to imprison us, I have my suspicions.

Fran,

I am praying the right decisions are made for our Great Country and the world our children and grandchildren will live in. Thanks for being a great example of the quote below.

"IF YOU ARE WHAT YOU SHOULD BE, YOU WILL SET THE WHOLE WORLD ON FIRE." "LET THE TRUTH BE YOUR DELIGHT.... PROCLAIM IT..., BUT WITH A CERTAIN CONGENIALITY." ~ St. Catherine of Siena
