Gardening Nudists vs Landlord and Neighbors

By
Services for Real Estate Pros with SimplifyEm

A couple of nudists claim their landlord is wrongly discriminating against them by trying to get them to cover up while gardening. They were accused by their landlord of being a nuisance, because they wear only thong underwears and pasties while gardening.

Neighbors complained to police about the couple’s scanty clothing, but police say the couple is not violating the law as long as their genitals are covered. The landlord however, Boulder Housing Partners, has sent the couple a letter saying they could face eviction if they don’t cover up. The couple says the threat of eviction amounts to discrimination.

I think this is disgusting and they should be made to cover up or move somewhere remote!  I'd be furious if my sons and husband had to watch our neighbors gardening in thongs!  What a disgrace, it's so sad what this world has come to.  Nothing is left to the imagination and nothing is kept sacred and special, everyone is just flaunting it all and turning this world into an evil pit of drugs, sex and alcohol.  I don't want my boys to grow up in this or my daughter to have to compete or deal with stuff like this.  No one can change my mind on this one.

Sincerely,

Kathleen

Hi Niman,

Sounds like quite the controversy!  While they wouldn't be my first choice as neighbors, I'm in favor of them retainig whatever rights the law allows!

Hopefully the landlord checked out what rights he has before sending the letter. I live in a retirement community and am sure I wouldn't want to see my neighbors almost nude!LOL

I figured I would get a mixed response. In fact, that's part of the reason why I posted it!

I myself don't even know how I should react. Obviously, we all agree that they should cover up - just because!

Then again, I think Mike hit the nail on the head...

Hi Niman,

I would agree, if they are obeying the law then there isn't much you can do. However, I wouldn't enjoy them bieng my neighbors.

I am with Michael and with Lisa. I hope the Boulder Housing Partners have checked the laws before they send the letter, otherwise a slick attorney can turn that one on them in a heart beat.

.....I would either move or make certain that the view to their garden is blocked
