The Palos Verdes Homes Association , through the Art Jury, has jurisdiction for aesthetic approval of all architectural plans and modifications of homes in Palos Verdes Estates and the Miraleste portion of Rancho Palos Verdes. The original restrictions on architectural designs also designated three separate districts, with each district having separate guidelines for the architectural style to be used there. For instance, the Malaga Cove area specifically did not allow Tudor style architecture or roofs with sharply sloped roofs, however this style was allowed, to a limited extent, in the Lunada Bay area of the Project.

Malaga Cove Plaza 1920's The Palos Verdes Estates Street Signs are the same original design from the 1920's

Most of the early construction was Mediterranean or Spanish in Style.  Because of this, most of the early street names were Spanish in nature.  Later, some English themed names were added, primarily in the lower Lunada Bay area where English Tudor style homes were allowed to be built.  These English street names include Yarmouth Road, Chelsea Road, Dalton, Cloyden , Epping, Oakley, and Thorley, and coexist with such street names as Via Pacheco and Via Anacapa.
