Today's blog post is the fourth and final excerpt from How To Achieve Better Marketing Results—Sooner...focuses implementation of business and marketing plans.

It seems an appropriate way to end a week in which the implementation was the common theme.

As well as implementing the new featured website element of my own website, I finally got around to implementing a long-delayed component of my website development plan...updating my earliest web content.

In the hope of assisting you in implementing all aspects of your various plans, here is my Friday offering.

Effective Implementation Doesn’t Just Happen

Despite the best of intentions, few self-employed people and business owners effectively implement their marketing plans.

delayedMost start strong, committed to doing the things that they must do to achieve their goals.

But before long, marketing begins to lose its priority and actions start being postponed until they are totally ignored.

Successful marketing depends upon effective implementation.

And effective implementation doesn’t just happen.

As a component of your marketing plan, it must be carefully planned, developed and executed. Implementation is a continuous process that involves consistently following pre-determined procedures.

Procedures

Procedures are specific ways of achieving results. They detail precisely what must be done and when and how it must be done.

Today’s fast food restaurants demonstrate the effectiveness of procedures in business operations.

It did not just happen that McDonald’s became the world’s largest restaurant chain. Ray Kroc built plans, developed policies and designed procedures to ensure that everything that had to get done was in fact done.

And to ensure compliance with these procedures, McDonald’s management has standardized and formalized them.

checklist

By following exactly the same approach to adopting and following procedures, you can ensure that your marketing plan will be effectively implemented. Every procedure must be regularly monitored to ensure that it happens.

This can be achieved by checklists.

Realistically, if you don’t monitor the use of your procedures, they won’t be followed consistently. Build in regular review processes to ensure you get continuous improvement.
