Photo taken at Blue Heron Wetlands, a water reclamation project in Titusville FL.  He was just resting at the side of the road and not bothered, in the least, by my presence.  I was about 6-8 from him so zoom wasn't necessary.  I was totally intrigued by THE EYE!!!

Soft shell? Usually, you see them swimming around with their noses sticking up like a straw, I never saw their eyes this close.  Wonderful photo as always!

Gail, he looks so prehistoric! Kinda scary in an intriguing way! Great photo, but we have come to expect this from you, dear!

Hi Silvia.....I've photographed the softshell before but not this close.  Isn't that eye amazing!!!

Hi Charlie....don't be envious, there are times when I would eagerly trade places - like today when it's mid-90's.  But we really do have some neat stuff ;-)

Hi Tammy...he definitely was watching me but also not bothered at all.  He never pulled in or tried to get away.  Great for me :-)  I was only a few feet away so zoom wasn't needed.

LOL @Steve.....hmmmm so you decided to keep your thoughts to yourself eh ;-)

Hi Wanda....glad you find him interesting too.  Thanks for stopping by.

Hi Sash....great to see you, what a face this creature has!

Hey Caren....you're so funny in an endearing way...hahahaha.  I love intrigue and this eye certainly speaks of that and so much more.  Have a supercalifragilistic weekend :-)

Gail,

If you photoshop a few wrinkles away I think I've seen that picture on an agent's business card. Uh oh, it might have been mine.

Next time, chocolate turtles.

Gail - What an excellent shot and look, he's sticking his neck out for you! Does he come with the property?

This guy looks to be well past retirement age.  The eye is a little frightening. ;-)

Gail, That eye is an INCREDIBLE!!  Was the eye watching you or was he nonchalant?

His "nose" is what caught my eye. As a teen I worked on the Ridley Turtle Project in Galveston and I have never seen a nose like this. Neat photo!

Hi John...You've got a point, there's something about someone willing to stick their neck out for you.  And yes, he comes with the property.....LOL

Mr. Don....his eye looks like a planet, I think it's fascinating.....look again :-)

Hi Marchel....he was both watching and nonchalant, he really wasn't bothered - never pulled his parts inward, didn't move.  Hmmm, I think he was as intrigued with me as I was with him.

Hi Monique....I love being able to get so close as to study and stare and see things like never before.

Thanks Betina....I did another Softshell Turtle picture a couple of months ago, but I wasn't able to get this close.  I thought the eyes were blue so this is a wonderful surprise.

You may be right but maybe it could be an eclipse too.  Either way it is a facinating photo, when I grow up I want to be as good as you when it comes to taking photos.

Hey Debi....you know I couldn't decide on the title between primordial and primeval.  I didn't want anyone to think of Tutty as evil....and now you know the rest of the story....LOL, you're so silly ;-)

Hi Jim....let's go with beautiful in the eye of us beholders AND interesting too!!!  Thanks for stopping by.

Oh Don...don't do that, grow up I mean!!!  And Don, you have to buy the camera first.  Grab your lovely wife and come on down.  I'll make sure you go home with some amazing shots :-)

Well Ann...Look at it this way, if that was the face looking back at you, at least you know that someone would find you beautiful :-)

Hi Cynthia....Thank you once again for your generous comment.  BTW, I think Rich might be more shy in front of the camera than you are...he is a cutie as are you....and I'm happy to consider you both among my AR friends :-)

LOL @Pat....you crack me up, you've such a way with words.  That schnoz you can sometimes see poking up through the water to catch a breath of air.  I think he's quite handsome....all things considered ;-)
