I kept hearing about Microsoft launching a new search engine called BING.  Google has always been the search engine of my choice and I often check other search engines to see how well my placement is.

Well, my husband and I were talking about it last night when I accidentally typed in the top search bar for something and up came "BING".  I was actually searching keywords for my website as I had made a big goof and had to go back to the backup from a week ago and redo some stuff.

Anyway, while typing in one of my keywords for Hawaii Relocation who should pop up on the first page of BING. NINE ...yes, NINE places out of TEN!

The first few spots on this first page were my website, a woohoo sally spot, website and Localism!

And then I kept scrolling down and saw the following.....Localism, ActiveRain, ActiveRain, Localism spots of my posts from different times and topics. I was jumping up and down. I am in the top spots on BING too!

If you notice, I also put arrows on the right sides of these screen shots as well. For each topic they have a little pop up screen for each website. For the first shot it showed all the links on my website too! For Localism it showed the first snippet of the post.

Now...how cool is this?  More Juice for my ActiveRain and Localism posts.

It's not that ActiveRain was losing Google Juice...it's that it just may be that this new search engine is picking up the GOOD websites :) :)

What do you think?

My theory is, get all the coverage everywhere you can.

However, Bing must be cruising the Internet to pick up these sites optomized for Google.

Makes sense.

I've got 3 of 10 and 7 of the top 20.  Happy.

Kathy: I do too! Just remember to gear to all search engines and don't rule anything out because it's new. I love finding new things to help with researching my stuff. :)

My results with Bing are pretty ppor. Since MSN has gone to Bing I get no traffic from them. Google still brings over 90% of my traffic. Sorry Bing not impressed.

Sally Jo, I check the visitors on our site (search engine) and this bing thing has been showing up more regularly. I'm glad to have read this, because I'd done no research (except, AR seems to prove often to be a superb research site, so I guess I did)- thanks for the post!

I do believe that BING is the new search engine of MSN.  It is worth making sure your register with it to get placement - regardless of how you feel about BING and your current placement.  MSN is (was) one of the top (if not second) search engines after Google.

Sally- That is great. Of course we want to think that BING is picking up the Good Sites. As with all new search engines- let's enjoy the thrill for a while- the spammers start coming and then BING will have to change things and we may not see the same results. It happens unfortunately with every good thing on line, the spammers try to take advantage. They did it to Google in the beginning and so Google had to shift its' indexing protocol. It happens to great content sites like Squidoo and Scribd.

So we shall enjoy the moment while it is in our hands:)

Norma: what kind of keywords are you using? Are you being consistent in all your posts with your titles, tags and keywords for specific things you're writing about?

Russ: Not quite...but work hard at what I have :)

Jennifer: It sure is Microsoft :) ...and I've been registered with Windows Live for years....but finally did my profile etc. Kind of like Google profile :)

Steve: I'm sure there is competitiveness....even in the search engine world. Aren't we?

Bill: I'm sure it will. I mean... it's just like each of us..we all have our likes/dislikes and for me even IE is better for me than Firefox. Why? I like simple...and I don't have a bunch of stuff runnning in the background to mess up my use.

Joe: Hahah. I'm not changing my google habits...I'm just stating that other people may use other search engines more than others....so let's all take advantage of ALL search engines to see our placement :)
