Anyone else notice that AR is methodically renegging on it's promise to provide city sponsorship to the agent that sponsors the most communities within that city?

That's right... I just received an email that Active Rain is removing my city sponsorship even though I've sponsored 9 communities in my city of Corona SINCE THEY'VE BEGAN OFFERING THE SPONSORSHIPS

I sponsored the communities ONLY because of Active Rain's promise to provide the city sponsorship. Their integrity is in serious jeopardy with these actions, and I don't think the agents that made AR what it is will stand by and allow AR to harm them.

I'll keep everyone posted on this site as well as my other blogs. Hopefully they will come to their senses and contact me to correct this issue promptly.

I didnt pay that much attention to localism. I do post there but I quit sponsoring as soon as I realized how messed up the content was.

I do not sponsor any cities but I do not like the fact that Philadelphia appears as a city in Bucks county and I have mentioned it to AR but nothing has been done. Bucks county is in the suburbs of Philadelphia.

Cameron...

This is interesting. I would contact one of the guys directly, as this is a dollar and cents issue. The AR gang is very responsive, so maybe there's a logical explanation!

We chose the "wait 'n see" thing with localism and post sometimes...the Rain Gods are reasonable folks...have you spoken with them ?  Except for the same old/same old in the featured members...yawn...I think a God to Member conversation may help you.

Is this something in "Hit Router"?   Or, are you speaking about the original sponsorship of cities?

Your post isn't clear.

What I feel is a kick in the head is what if you live in a little, winny tiny area that had no communities. And then slowly you stock the shelves, post a zillion images, write the blogs on all the subjects that need covering that had nothing. And then break down the local community into smaller special niches like a particular lake region, or community park and then all the things that happen there for specialization. And then it comes up for "sale"...anyone can buy in and when you look around the landscape, you create the landscape and have to buy back in. Somehow that does not seem right. If an agent just sits there like a bump on a log, then paying to take part the American way. But if someone is a workhorse or little red hen creating the stuff, cut him some slack, reward him or give him a free seat that he earned, that he continues to create images/video/posts for to keep that seat.

Localism sponsor

Cameron,

A newbie, I went to explore. Is this what AR is telling you will be removed?

Did they give you any reasons?

Cameron, interesting.  Let us know what happens with this issue.  I'm curious about it.

I haven't been very active in getting into Localism so I'm not really sure what this is, but I've had a pretty positive experience all around with ActiveRain.  Have you tried talking to them directly?  The people I have spoken to are very helpful.

Boo if they are changing it from a rewards by effort to a rewards by monetary contribution system though.

The areas around our city are messed up as well. Some of the agents have entered wrong area information I think in an attempt to get better market share.

I don't remember Activerain every giving us a time line on how long they would be offering that. It is a business decision that I'm sure they thought long and hard about and I'm sure they have their reasons. I have to say I've never sponsored a community or a city because I figured my connect spoke enough for me that I didn't have to throw money to buy leads.

Localism Sponsor

I'm sorry I wasn't a bit more specific... Here's the email I received yesterday... I'm sponsoring 9 communities.

Cameron,

Cities like Corona are considered too big one to be sponsored outright, and so they're regularly assigned to the person who sponsors the most communities within the city limits.

On the 16th of this month, we're planning to remove ownership of Corona from you.

If you'd like to continue being the Corona sponsor, you'll need to register at least 1 additional local community.

Thanks for your past support!

Cameron,

You were previously sponsoring 11 communities/cities. You canceled all of them, including the community (or possibly communities) you were sponsoring in Corona. This left you with only the FREE Corona sponsorship that you were getting as a result of sponsoring a community within Corona.

Once our system sees that you are not sponsoring any communities within Corona, it does not allow you to keep the FREE sponsorship of Corona.

I'm really sorry you feel this is unfair or some reneging on what you believe we promised. However, I disagree. I am available via phone if you would like to speak about this. 425.753.7340

I assume this has saved you the time "of creation and distribution of the facts" as those are the facts.

In looking at this a little closer you just wrote that you are sponsoring 9 communities. Did you actually cancel them or is there an error with what I am seeing on your current Localism account?

It could be that there is some kind of bug that deleted all the paid sponsorships you had and left that one free sponsorship of Corona. Let me know so if that is the case we can quickly restore your paid memberships so someone else can't jump in and take any of the ones you had.

Localism Sponsor

Bob,

I never cancelled my subscriptions to the communities I sponsored.  What causes you to believe I did?

Also, I thought it was 9... maybe it was 11.  I don't pay attention... my credit card is debited automatically (monthly).

When I go in and look at your account on Localism it is empty except for the free sponsorship of Corona.

Can you send me a list of the communities that you may have sponsored. I am pretty sure our developer can go back and figure it out but I won't have access to him till Monday.

If you can email me the communities you remember having had a sponsorship of I will go in and make sure no one is able to claim them from you until we can figure out what happened.
