You grew up or have spent most of your life in a small town with little or no crime, one stop light holding back little traffic near the Walmart or hospital.

And then like a blink of your eye, more activity and someone turned up the volume on crime, traffic, heavy duty restrictive zoning and that knock at your door is the lawn police. You should have mowed last evening because now you have your second warning about the length of your grass. The neighbors have measured and you the hick that hangs your clothes out, leaves your garage door open are in violation of so many neighborhood rules and regulations, that you may be thrown in solitary confinement for your rule infractions. If the nice little town you used to live in, is not so friendly, safe or easy to get around in, maybe a move is in your tea leaves or crystal ball prediction.

You can hang around hoping it gets better, that suddenly somehow half the population moves. But you hope it is not like a Michigan town tied to the auto industry that causes the migration.

If you live in an urban area that chances are will stay that way or continue to enlarge, head to the suburbs. Or if you are brave enough, sell out, head to a smaller, rural town.

Heck while you are at this total change of the scenery and day to day living, consider buying a farm, some land to build your own home on. More and more off grid, greener healthier to the person and the planet living folks are doing their homework, making the transition. From city mouse to country mouse or somewhere inbetween. Are you happy, content where you live? And before you pull up stakes and bail out, how is the rest of your life? Usually it is not just losing faith in the area you live in, the marriage, the job, the relationship with your kids all impacts it. And then your health, both physical and mental get affected. Life is short, can be enjoyable and rewarding, but if you are not where you should be on the planet, look for a new area to live. Since Columbus, folks have been moving around this new world in search of the right fit, enough space, a place to live, work and play/pray for themselves and their families.

You are right Charles. Don't wait until you are ready for the nursing home and then whine I should have such and such. It's your life, live it. Or as Joe Dirt would say,"Life's a puzzle, figure it out."
