An update on my earlier post (damaged door, and a masked intruder) where I talked about an REO property that I had sold, where the

garage door had been vandalized, and a Racoon had taken up residence.

We left the service door open, and the racoon made his way outside, and then we promptly closed the door and locked it (hopefully Rock isn't any good at lock-picking...)... so gratefully, Rocky wasn't picked up by animal services, and euthanized... (yay!)... and found his way outside on his own, after a power nap.

The Bank has decided to replace the garage door with a new one. (Huzzah!)... my buyers (actually their lawyer) had the audacity to ask the company to supply new garage door remote controls with the new door (even though the old door didn't have any remotes before being damaged)... and the bank has politely declined.  They'll get over it... Universal remotes are about $29.00 at home depot.

I'd call this a win/win... wouldn't you?

Alan, I would much rather have Rocky..than Bullwinkle or Pepe Lapew taking up residence. I had a skunk family living in a crawl space once, and when you try to chase them out...they spray..

Alan...

Check Bill Feela's post from a few days ago for an interesting take on Lawyers! Glad that you got the deal done and that Rocky lives!

Richard - I'll go check out that post...

Kristin - I think we're all glad that Rocky hadn't "met his match... "

I think that the raccoon and the buyers made out like bandits on this deal.  Lucky ...........

Alan,

I had to get some animals out of a home I bought one time.  It was a catch and release service.  They took them far away and let them go.

We, too, had to move raccoons from a foreclosure property that we bought personally.  Trapped and moved them.  Another time we had skunks under a listing - a little tricky getting them removed without major consequences.  Adventures in real estate.

Like bandits... Lyn, you iz one funny lady, you iz

Larry... I had a buddy whose father had a catch and release policy... he trapped squirrels and took them to the nearby forest preserve.  Now whenever he's at that preserve... there are hundreds and hundreds of squirrels that line the trees and look at him like... "daddy!"

Real estate is a true adventure, Jim...

Hi Alan...Yep definitely a good ending.  Would have been BAD if Rocky were made a scapegoat for man's problems.  Congrats on the sale :-)

gail, rocky is only responsible for global warming, an increase in urban crime, and the high cost of petroleum products.

Glad to hear that the little intruder made his way back out safely. If he stayed, at least the buyers would have a new pet.

I just applied to volunteer with "Project Wildlife" here. Project Wildlife rescues injured and abandoned wildlife and nurses it back to health before releasing it back into the wild. Such would have included your little masked invader. My orientation is July 14. I'm excited.

JL - I think the buyer's might have had a new little 'rug', rather than a pet.

Russel - that sounds like fun AND worthwhile... enjoy!
