It's US Flag Day ~ today on June 14, 2009.
Flag Day commemorates adoption of Old Glory as flag of the US, which was approved by resolution of the 2nd Continential Congress in 1777.
Later in 1917 President Woodrow Wilson proclaimed and officially stated that June 14 is US Flag Day.
Expect the US flag to be posted or flown over all government buildings and facilities this day and week.
I remember celebrating Flag Day every June 14 while growing up in Salina, Kansas, always liked the tradition, and will keep it up.
Lyrics from Chorus of "You're A Grand Old Flag", patriotic march tune written by George F. Cohan in 1907 for his stage musical, George Washington, Jr.:
Lyrics from Chorus ~ "You're A Grand Old Flag"
"You're a grand old flag, You're a high flying flag And forever in peace may you wave. You're the emblem of The land I love. The home of the free and the brave. Ev'ry heart beats true 'neath the Red, White and Blue, Where there's never a boast or brag. But should one acquaintance be forgot, Keep your eye on the grand old flag."
We have our US flag today displayed proudly at the front of our home in Irvine, California.

Harrison,
Great commemorative post. There's a new group that you can post this to called "Observances and Celebrations." :)
