Memorable Sunset over Lake Erie at foot of Avonia Road June 14, 2009

A few years ago National Geographic Magazine listed Lake Erie as one of the Top Ten Sunset Locations in the world.

Join me as I reminisce about the sunset last night and I will share my pictures with you.

The crowd gathers at the foot of Avonia Road (about a mile from our home)

about an hour before sunset. Some people bring a late dinner as there are picnic tables behind me.

Avid photographers . . .

My hubby found a comfortable log

Walleye fishermen have the front row view and may even bring home a trophy.

And I couldn't resist one last shot before leaving. The beauty lingers . . .

Come again.

Hi Mary...We have been living in our waterfront home for 15 years now and I still grab the camera to take sunset photos. I happen to glance out the window and I cannot resist the chane to capture some of the beauty.

Mary, The photos are gorgeous. I love to watch sunsets. Years ago I was in Monterey when the sun was setting and got such a pretty photo, I had it blown up and framed it! These remind me of that picture....

Sharon--Not only did you inpsire me one night, but I vowed to see the sunset over the lake at least once a week. Today I walked at Asbury Woods with a friend.

Kate--Lucky you to live on the waterfront. Share a few pictures with AR this summer.

Carole--Each day you have your a reminder of the beautiful sunset you saw in a beautiful part of the country--Monterey, CA.

I remember sitting on a dock while eating lunch overlooking the waterfront in Monterey many years ago. Thanks for the reminder.

What a sunset! We spent a few days in Putin Bay a few years back and we also enjoyed our time spent on Lake Erie. Growing up in Texas, I didn't realize how awesome the Great Lakes were until moving to the Midwest.

Irene--thanks for visiting here. Glad you are back from 30th celebration. Likewise I didn't realize what Texas had to offer until my brother moved there amost 20 yrs ago. All parts of the country have their 'hot' buttons.
