Life in the Grand Strand area gets very exciting and busy this time of year. As you can imagine, vacationers arrive with their dreams of sand, sun, waves, shopping and discovering new ways to make memories for their families.  In writing to you today, I want to share a few special activities and make our life on the coast so special.

You cannot beat Brookgreen Gardens for a outdoor theater, live entertainment and excellent dining. Beginning June 17 thru July 15 the play A Carolina Pirate: Anne Bonney and Company, written by a local playwright, will be presented in Live Oak Alley.

Each Thursday night is family night with nature walks, animal programs and story-telling -- ghost stories included!

The Concert Series features performances under the live oaks. steel drum band, jazz, acoustic guitar. Just imagine the soft summer breeze wrapping around you, the crystal clear sky bejeweled with a thousand stars, the music flowing into the night air.  This is the low country of South Carolina. This is why I'm here.

On June 28th, Creek Ratz in MI will host their second beach music concert of the season; featuring Jim Quick and the Coastline Band. If you are not familiar with Jim and his band, you need to check this out!! Jim's a very entertaining, funny guy and you'll always find his dad, Boom Boom, in the audience taking pictures of the crowd and the band. Don't be surprised if you find your picture on www.OceanDriveHappens.com!!

Until next time, see you on the dance floor!

Susan

I'm reading this in January and it is cold here in Murrell's Inlet. I look forward to the warm weather. I love the low country of SC, particularly Murrell's Inlet
