I'm Sorry, Have We Met

By
Real Estate Agent with Coldwell Banker 69190

With the member numbers still on the rise at Active Rain, I have noticed something that happens to me from time to time. Every once and a while I open my AR newsletter and take a look at the featured posts only to realize that I don't know any of the faces starring back at me. I have done the same thing on several occasions when clicking over to the dashboard to check out all the features.

At one time it was rare that I saw a newsletter or a featured article from a writer that I did not know. Now it has begun to happen a little more frequently as time marches on. It's not really due to lack of participation on my part, I stop in on a daily basis. However, maybe it's just due to the overwhelming amount of individuals that have surfaced here over the course of my time on the site.

It's hard to argue the fact that there is no way to really keep up with nearlly 150,000 people. No matter how much time you spend here, I doubt you can really cover them all on your own. Not only are starting to see more people join the crowd in one way or another, but we are starting to see more and more people who make a concentrated effort to write quality content. That makes the newer faces pop up on the dashboard and in the newsletters.

With more people showing up everyday and scrathing away to make their presence felt in the forum, I'm sure I will be seeing many more unfamiliar faces around here before it's over. Now don't get me wrong, I still see a lot of the writers I know showing up with a featured post here and there, but I have certainly noticed that there are quite a few that I have yet to meet. So for those of you that I have yet to come across and meet just yet, congrats on the feature and keep up the good work.

You know.. now that you mention it.. I am not seeing the same faces either. There was a time when the same people were popping up as the featured posts. Thats not to say it doesnt happen.. I could still name a few that are on the newsletter or featured often, but there are more newer faces out there. Its great to meet new people and/or old people that I have not met yet.

Hi JL-I think I once figured it out it would take 11 yrs to comment on everybody and by that time there would be several more so I think it is an unreachable goal.  I think like most of us, we have a certain amt we can comment a day and we for the most part stay in that but if we have time or notice new folks we add to that or if someone new comments on ours then will reciprocate. <SMILE>

Sharon- I enjoy meeting someone new myself when I get the chance.

Christianne- Glad you're here as well and it's nice to meet you.

Nannette- There's a lot that we can learn from both.

Dedra- Hang in there write good content, you'll get that feature. Nice to meet you.

John- I still see some of the regulars, but a lot of new ones in there.

Sharon- 11 years is a long time, I'd never make it. I do what I can here, but once and a while I have to get some work done.

Nice post JL. Numbers are certainly diluting ones ability to keep up, no doubt. While I have been reading your posts lately, I can help but think of Heath Ledger in the Dark Night, "Why So Serious?"

How about a list my young friend!?!?!?

JL -- I just had my first feature last week. I was so excited because I had a whole new crew of people comment on my blog and therefore was able to *meet* them, and now have interaction with them.

There are such great people on here with fantastic ideas to share.

Can't wait to meet more & more! :-) Thanks for your post!

I haven't been aroud all that long.......but for me it's good to read new writers. I like the variety. And I also appreciate the 'personalities' of the more well known writers.  I can always tell which ones will take more time to get through.

You........are one of the funny scacastic ones of which I think is great!
