I get asked that all the time! How do I find my ideas? Isn't it hard coming up with topics?

NO WAY!

Every day there is inspiration all around me--in the mundane tasks (an appraiser asking for a home inspection report and getting push back), in the exciting new developments that take place every day in this business, and all in between.

If you're having problems finding things to write about, here's help!

- write about questions your clients ask you and how you answer them

- write about problems you're seeing in your business or even personal live (we on AR let it all hang out!)

- write about the annoying agent who won't return your calls or present your offer --go ahead, get it off your chest here and don't take it out on your family

- write about your successes and triumphs

- write about your failures, too, and disappointments

- write about what you see happening in YOUR market -- compile some data for us and give examples of trends YOU see around you

- write about ... Active Rain! What has AR done for your business and your life?

I don't know about you, but not a day goes by here where we don't have some flurry of activity in the office that could be a blog post!

HELLO ERICA!  Sometimes I get a block and these are great tips to get past it!  Thanks for sharing! -- Gabrielle

I have never not known what to write about. I actually have about 20 posts drafted out ready to go. My plan is to write once a week about our town (since we're a heavy relocation area, this is important for my customers), once a week about Buying a home, once a week about Real Estate in general (market moves, definitions of real estate terms, etc), once a week I put in photos of our area and once a week is whatever I feel like ranting about.

If I'm in a class (where I'm usually bored stiff), I write a bunch of blog posts on Microsoft Word and have them ready to go!

Hi Erica!

I find the best way to come up with blogging ideas, is to go through your email and find questions your clients have asked you. Chances are you will find something to spark an idea from there.

Hi Erica - This is so true for me as well.  Problem is now when I am sitting quietly observing a situation my husband says "you thinking of a blog idea?"  Most times I am!  :D

Erica - True that.  In our business, there's a plethora of stuff to write about every day... especially in this atmosphere.

Erica - Usually something happens that sticks with me, and I feel I should write about it.  A few I started, but changed my mind, though.

Erica - Ideas for content is not my problem. I keep a spreadsheet of bright ideas, and it prints out to several pages. Taking the time to write, now, that's my struggle.

Some of you just have the easiest time finding relevant topics to write about. Not me. The reason? Every time something comes up that seems fit to write about - I find that it has already been done. While I know we all bring our own perspective to things, I still feel that whatever I put out there needs to be as unique as possible. You seem to manage that with ease :)

I got a laugh out of Wendy's comment. I've had QUITE a few blog posts that I deleted before it went on line. NEVER hit the 'post' button until the heat of the moment has passed!

Yes, me too! I've saved a few posts and then went back and deleted them after I read them through again.
