It's the start of another day in paradise ...or ... home is where the heart lies! The TRUE value of home ownership!

By
Real Estate Broker/Owner with Richard Weisser Realty

Early Morning view from the deck by Richard WeisserAs I sit out here on the deck early in the morning, watching a light mist roll over the landscaping, I am inspired to declare that this is a fine place to reside!

And while I am not on the beach in Waikiki nor gazing over my beloved Smoky Mountains, there is no other place that I'd rather be right now.

And while my "estate in land" may seem to be run-of-the-mill or ordinary by most established standards, it is home to me, and that makes it a place unlike no other on the planet.

My home is my refuge and my sanctuary. And although it is modest in scope and lies in a densely populated area, it is a million miles away from the trials and tribulations of the outside world. It's a place to recharge the internal batteries of the soul in preparation for each new day.

There is an intrinsic value to home ownership that is impossible to define in words or dollars. The place where I live is NOT an investment; it is the fountainhead from which my life flows out into the mainstream, ready to face another day in paradise.

And HOW do you put a dollar value on that?

Richard so very true. I am grateful every day for our beautiful home and gardens and close to mountain preserve.  It's not Hawaii with ocean views but it is our paradise. Whenever we hike in the preserve it's like being in the country inside the city and we alwasy say....this is paradise.

Beautfully written post!

Morning Richard,  You know what ?  I can send pictures and brochures to a client but until they actually experience our island and the sand between their toes it is just a destination or building.  When it is finally theirs' it is a " home ".

Richard, isn't that wonderful, to sit and be so recharged at your home by what you see and feel. I sit under our apple tree and just soak it all in.

Looks like you live in a corner of paradise to me.

King Richard enjoying his castle! Chip and I often share that same joy. Sometimes potential buyers get caught up in the "investment" and forget that the house is meant to be a home.  This will help us remember to stress the intangible value of the home.

You typically put a price on it with a market analysis, this will develop a strong idea of what the current market value on the home will be.

Now, joking aside, there is no price that can be put on the feeling of being at home. There's just something about it that brings a sigh of relief when you finally reach that doorstep in an effort to escape the madness and mayhem that surrounds the world at large.

Richard, My home is not a castle, nor a luxury home but it is a place where we, as a family can be ourselves, share each day as it comes and create lasting memories. There is no other place I'd rather be! Thank you for another heartfelt post!

Cynthia...

Back when I used to garden a LOT more than I do now, I planted the Leland Cypresses, the Rose, the butterfly bush and the river birches you see in this photo. I actually rooted the BB and the rose from another parent plant. I don't have that much ambition now, so I'm glad I did seven or eight years ago!

Sash...

You're welcome.

Anna...

Sound like you do have your own piece of paradise! Thanks.

I love my home. I have a reading room that is my sanctuary. I love going to the library but it still does not compare to the peace and quiet in a home. Great post.

Richard, With all the trials that can come with home ownership, I can't think of any place I'd rather be.  My home is once again my sancturary and that's the way it should be.....it IS priceless to me and why I fought so hard and for so long to get it back to what it once was.  I'm almost there!

Fantastic words Richard...I am going to print it off and read it to my wife the next time she complains about the alfalfa field out back that replaced our view of Pikes Peak 5 years ago. That alfalfa field truly does insulate my own "sanctuary' from the outside world (at least until I look out the front door and see 45 houses down the street :)

During the market upturn, I thought about selling my home when I realized that I cannot afford to buy it back.  But, my home was not bought as an investment, it was bought as a place to raise my two childeren.

Back again Richard, thanks for identifying all those plantings you put into your home! My Dad once owned a nursery and I'm a bit of a gardener too. Once again, great view & great photo.
